Maybe we are extrapolating too much and this is just a normal thing cause the show was getting stale (but I think there's some drama behind the curtains).

i'm honestly surprised he can't negotiate something, like you said its 4k an hour, probably more like 10k with ad revenue. And its not really edgy, if you listen to the post-2016 election episode you know they're all being ironic and are extreme leftists. Nick Mulen himself admitted its content is not any spicier than old comedy death ray or madtv.

its not hurting his career, although maybe he is still getting paid, like chapo splits the revenue in an odd way too. at least one person quit that show but is supposedly still getting something.

So maybe Stav or some chapos or their friends truely do hate the MDE co-mingling that much.

He's said on the podcast before that he needed to wait until he had 'figured out his schedule' to exercise and lose weight, when all he really did was a podcast eight hours a week and some spots at clubs. When he moved to LA and started to try to break into the mainstream and found out he had to do another 8 hours of work on top of the podcast, he probably just said "Fuck it" and left because a 20 hour work week to him is basically indentured servitude.

two hours is the best he can do. if he didnt have the podcast he'd just be a struggling comic in NYC. getting bit parts and writing jobs. people with much less money have done way more while juggling jobs.

I gotta say I have listened to the first 20 or so cumtown podcasts and thought they were really good, and there are channels that cut their bits into short videos which are great as well. That being said, I've tried listening to their newer podcasts recently and it's awful, there's almost nothing funny unless Nick happens to think of something that isn't mindless rambling.

I hope Nick goes on to do something else because I do think he's one of the funniest comics when he has his moments. I look forward to some retrospectives being made about the podcast in the future.

That's suspicious, for sure, but Stav is the one that's always on the move doing other things besides the pod and Rochefort is not a controversial figure; it's probable that he had some other stuff to do and Rochefort being invited was the perfect excuse for him to be absent, in the past one of them used to leave (usually Adam) if they had a guest. Two years ago they didn't even had a fourth mic, if I remember correctly.

I'm not a Sam Hyde fan so I don't know if he's taking too far the Hasan stuff for Stav to be comfortable with it, but Stav is a bitch so I wouldn't dismiss that he's butthurt.

MDE was never dirtbag left (that's Chapo, Cum Town), they were associated with the alt-right. I don't think Sam cares about politics anymore because he seems to understand that bipartisan politics in a western democracy are an illusion to distract us from where the real seats of power are and he sounds profoundly disenchanted and apathetic about the way things work. Same happens to Mullen and to any dude with half a functional braincell. Both of them use politics for their own comedic purposes but they do not engage with politics on a public level nor they do proselytism.

Nick and Stav riff off each other well, but it's obvious that Nick really carries the podcast and Stav is replaceable.
Stav is stronger just as "funny podcast man to hang out with" rather than a stand-up comedian. His special was good, but nothing really spectacular. I don't think going mainstream is going to work out for him in the end. I watched him on Flagrant and he was okay, but I always hate it when comedians unironically espouse their political views through comedy. It just feels awkward.
