I'm genuinely shocked they opted for a Buzz Lightyear cartoon series rather than an actual Toy Story animated series.

There's SO MANY ideas they could have come up with regarding locations, characters overcoming shit as toys using their strengths/weaknesses, maybe have a rival toy gang from a neighbor that moved next door (since they can't do sid's toys anymore, unless they make sid himself an re-occuring antagonist). The artists and writers could have let all of their imafgination and creativity flow freely.

It wasn't, but like I said, no series could go above 65 episodes no matter how big a hit it was - and the Buzz Lightyear cartoon had 65 episodes in all. It aired every weekday on UPN in addition to the Saturday morning broadcast on ABC.

I recall someone who created a show for Disney back then complaining about the arbitrary episode limit Disney insisted on... I just can't remember who.

The absolute weirdest goddamn thing about Lightyear is the attempt to claim it’s from the 90s. None of it makes sense as trying to be from that era of over the top action.

A perfect idea would have been to phrase it as a modern reboot, then go and get Tim Allen back so they can have a few scenes at the theater/home/however “our” Buzz is watching it, along with anyone left from the old cast.

After the proper film ends, you’d have Buzz (the Allen one) encountering a reboot Buzz (voiced by Evans) and Sox, who think they’re on an alien planet just like the old days. Cue Allen’s Buzz going “Not again…” as the credits roll.

There, done, you’ve successfully pandered to nostalgia, fixed all the weird story issues that show up by claiming this was the original film from the 90s, added a callback or two, and prevented any backlash from the Allen thing.

It’s such an easy fix I’d almost be shocked that no one thought of it especially since we already had the “toy intro” from Adventure Begins, yet this movie is so weirdly serious about itself that I doubt anything like it would have flown, which is annoying.

No one ever mentions The Weekenders, that show was a bop and trounced Recess. Recess is not bad of course but The Weekenders was very relatable and just fun.

Honestly, they need to just cut the cord on Toy Story because 4 was so souless in comparison to 3 or even 2 (the best one). Pixar's ideas have been so subpar the last decade. Inside Out was just The Numbskulls from the Beano comic (UK). Onward was so bland and tried to have a message similar to big Hero 6 but lacked soul. Soul, never seen it and don't care.

Turning Red was just so shallow, I still don't know what the message of that film was. Finding Dory from what I heard was hot shit. It's a mediocre film after mediocre film also Brave was shit but had a nice soundtrack but was an absolute mess. Luca was the only somewhat decent one because it took risks and was just different.

In contrast to the Animation Studios you had;

• Frozen - is not my cup of tea but artistically stunning and at least had a message and a soul. Elsa was likable as was everyone. It is really similar to Snow White in its payoff and has the same vibe. A good film to start off a new generation.
• Big Hero 6 was risky but had a really wholesome message. Baymax was a delight and it was a film you could tell had a lot of love in it and did not cop out with the brothers' death. Tonally so different but overall a really solid film.
• Wreck it Ralph was great, solid voice cast. Different and just fun, it was the good version of Ready Player One and the second one was actually not shit.
• Tangled was fun
• Moana was a gem, Really fun, not heavy-handed but respectful to its source. Really solid soundtrack too.
• Zootopia, actually was not shit. I had so many doubts before seeing it but I actually enjoyed it. It pushed no boundaries story-wise but the animation procedures in it were really impressive. Actually interesting to watch because they show how the effects have improved since Frozen.

The only exception really was Encarto, it was just blah. I did not hate the music but it was still better than Pixars crap.

It's such a depressing thought how (at least from how others have describes it) it really encapsulates modern reboot of a fun thing you enjoyed in the 90's, now paraded with barely recognizable cast, filled with woke shit (that is easy to cut for non western countries) and removed from everything that made it fun and exciting. Really makes you see in your mind's eye Andy taking his kid to watch it because he remembered liking it. only to try to convince himself that this was always Buzz Lightyear and not some skinwalker shaped like one.

All of those are good to great films I'd watch again at any point. Turning Red is probably the exception, but it's mostly because there's already a lot of shows out there that kind of cover the same bases rather than its quality.

When are we going to swallow the hard pill that LGBT shit is simply not appropriate for kids? That includes drag queens, pride parades and yes, gay characters in children's media.

It's naturally confusing for kids and not right for society to make them confused with this stuff.

Nobody's saying little Billy has to have the gay beat out of him if he's showing signs of being gay, nobody's saying being gay should be illegal if you're an adult, but for kids just keep it focused on heterosexuality in media, if you happen to be the kids of gay people, well that's for you and you're family to help you understand, you don't need movies and TV to do that for you.

In media aimed at kids below a certain age group homosexuality is not a topic that should be addressed, that's just one of those boundaries we shouldn't cross, same as anyone with sense would agree you shouldn't depict actual sex in children's media even if it's heterosexual, there's just some things about life young minds should be free to be innocent of.

And it's good for gay kids to grow up watching positive straight characters, instead of what we're doing now which is breeding them to be little narcissists that think of themselves as superior for being gay, literal heterophobia.

There's just some things people are going to have to come to terms with, even if you're gay, that society has to do for what's productive, as opposed to what's been happening now which is a slide into total chaos and degeneracy.

I doubt anyone who's gay who's my age was ever bothered watching Hercules or Aladdin as a kid, even if they found themselves more interested in Hercules than Megara, if they feel differently now it's because they've been told to feel like they should have had "representation", go back in time and ask any kid who grew up to be gay and I doubt they were bothered.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong, at the very least though, it doesn't need to be in EVERYTHING, there was zero reason a Buzz Lightyear movie of all things needed a gay character, the fact that Hollywood wants everything they release baldly propagandistic is creepy.
