Ever wonder why abortion is such a Big deal in America and not in Europe?

Because an activist, braindead SCOTUS basically allowed abortions any time because “Muh bodily autonomy!” rather than letting Congress and states figure this shit out.

In Europe abortion laws were codified by legislatures, and are in general much stricter than in the US.

I think it’s safe to say that a majority of Americans are opposed to “free” (as in no limits) abortion, just like a majority opposes a blanket abortion ban.

The reason Europe doesn’t have these huge cultural battles around abortion, is because European abortion laws are far stricter than Roe vs Wade, and because Eurofags settled on a compromise a long time ago: A compromise that depends on the country but roughly can be summed up as: Abortion up to the first semester is legal, but outlawed or with restrictions past the first trimester.

Something like that would be what a majority of Americans could accept as a reasonable compromise in an imperfect world, but nope: You gotta have far left lunatics screaming about how they NEED to have the right to abort in the 8th month because it’s HER body.
The opinion in Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health discusses at some length how Roe and Casey damaged the country, fueling a bitter disagreement, warping and distorting many Americans' understanding of the role of the judiciary, emphasizing that overtraining Row v Wades gives the issue to the democratic process. It is another indication that the Left just wants power. It is not enough to have insanely permissive abortion on demand laws on blue states, they want everyone to abide by their commands...

It didn't poll only democrats. They literally showed the numbers for each political party. Is reading my source that difficult for you? Apparently it is

And no, the majority don't support anti-abortion laws. As I've mentioned many times, gerrymandering exists. And a lot of states are gerrymandered out the ass in favor of Republicans
Why don't you do something about it?

Wont happen, if it did get overturned it would be one of the most flagrantly contrived rulings SCOTUS ever put out. Obergefell is put under solid ground with the Equal Protection Clause. The sole argument against gay marriage more or less devolves into "ITS FUCKING GROSS!" I find the modern gay community to be insufferable, but I don't find any legal reason to deny them the same rights and privileges as any other citizen. The problem is when they start trying to exceed such things to the detriment of other citizens, such as the trannies in women's sports.
For thousands of years marriage was rightly construed to be a union between a man and a woman.
Unfortunately, Obergefell will not likely be overturned for political reasons but the legal reasoning is cut from the same cloth of judicial activism. Unfortunately the genie is already out of the bottle. I blame the intellctusal.bankruoxt of much of the mainstream conservative movement. When LGBTQ-YUCK started lobbying for gay marriage, all those opposed could argue in rebuttal was weak religious dogma. Defining Deviancy Down, slippery slope is not a fallacy, and importance of children having both a mother and father were largely ignored.

Again, come back when you have an actual source to back up your claims
I think you're right. IMO, it'll take a few election cycles but US laws are likely going to settle on laws that are similar to Canada and Europe, where the demarcation for no longer allowing abortion is the ~2nd trimester.

This is purely anecdotal, but I was talking with my mom (who is staunchly pro-life and deeply religious) about the trigger law that just took effect in Utah and the first words out of her mouth were "but what about rape, incest, and medical complications that threaten the baby or life of the mother?" Even the majority of people on the pro-life side aren't against abortion in all cases.

Those trigger laws were passed to placate the pro-life groups, nobody actually expected Roe to be overturned in their lifetimes. I fully expect provisions to be added soon for rape/incest to any that lack them.

I can’t wait to hear lunatic lefties seethe about how this means that the Christian Taliban is right around the corner.
It becomes much easier to understand how groups like the Nazis or the various fascist groups came to popularity and power when I have to seriously contemplate about whether I'd be willing to sacrifice many of my own rights just to see these smug authoritarian pricks who've made the last fifteen years a living hell ground under the boot of a despot who hates them.

If that happens, I vote we move Black History Month to June to honor Clarence Thomas. As for Pride, well, no one important was celebrating it anyway, right?
I've never thought about it but I can't think of a black person who has made more history in the past 50 years than Clarence Thomas. Except maybe George Floyd. We should just call it Clarence Month.

Yeah, having those provisions in place is important as it robs the leftist idiots from their biggest talking point, despite making up maybe 5% of all abortion procedures.

Exactly - the Utah trigger law already had those exemptions in it. Right now, only elective abortions are banned but they also made a point of saying they don't plan to prosecute anyone who travels to another state to get one.

Do religions have the right to deny a person to be married based on their beliefs yes.

Does the state, no.

Sorry if someone else already mentioned it but the WSJ said the Supreme Court still has some big rulings. Prepare for more "RRReee" coming.
It's starting to look like the real meat was 'West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency.' Sure securing 2A rights and overturning Roe were good but they really don't harm the admin. Limiting executive branch powers has been long overdue and the Biden admin proves it needs to be done.

The cringe, it never ends:

"but what about rape, incest, and medical complications that threaten the baby or life of the mother?" Even the majority of people on the pro-life side aren't against abortion in all cases.
Every single state trigger law accounts for health of the mother. Most have a rape or incest exception.

We could even take it a step further and go back to awarding military decorations to women based on how many children they have!

These kind of policies existed since Augustan times. He had medals and honors and tax breaks for productive families.

Also I find trigger laws kind of unconstitutional and against the spirit of the constitution in general. Lawmaking is supposed to be slow as possible by design. The government shouldn't be able to rapidly pass laws whenever it wants to. Makes tyranny easier. Trigger laws are a loophole to that. If these states want to ban abortions, the current legislature should bring that to the floor and try to pass it.

The point of sex WAS to have children back a few hundred years ago when there were no forms of birth control save for a good ‘ol flight of stairs. That’s why all them oldie family portraits have a baseball team sized family.

But no, for most people, sex is because it’s sex. We don’t do it necessarily for the purpose of procreation but just because our hormones drive us to.

But should a period be missed after 2 or 3 weeks, it’s good to have a backup option. I want to bone my GF but I do NOT want anymore kids. She doesn’t either. For all the republicans crying “government stay out!” I cannot think of a better example than this.

Oh yes I will get more shit for this post than anything so far, but I’m just being honest.
I'm thinking a lot of people out in the real world are sick of hearing about sex sex sex and gender identities 24/7. In that way, the repeal seems like a refreshing direction. In an individual experience, I get why this is distressing, but I can also see why many people welcome it during the era of 24/7/365 "Pride" and "Kink Positivity!"

Personally, too much sexuality rubbed in my face-- uninvited-- has the opposite effect on me from what is intended. It actually makes me find the human body and sexuality repulsive. It's not like the benign nudity one sees in ancient sculpture, or if someone's in a shower room changing their clothes-- it's like in-your-face porn-inspired-self obsessed "social justice" bullshit. You can practically smell the yeast infections and smegma through the screen on social media. I don't find putting a magnifying glass up to sex as appealing. I don't need to see every asshole hair, thank you.

It's actually a GOOD thing to suppress sexual impulses at times, because that energy can then be channelled into glorious things. Consider all the great artwork and music that was created during the time periods when various cultures had strict rules regarding sexual behavior and expression. Men with a creative sense had to use their capabilities to attract someone (outside showcasing their own bodily functions and sexual prowess)-- they channeled that creativity into creative trades, literature, architecture, painting, music, hobbies, philosophy. While acquiring wealth was one goal, it's not hard to imagine attracting women with a display of their skill wasn't another goal. Women developed creative abilities in the arts, learning language, and in terms of practical necessities, food cultivation and creation, creating clothing, weaving, embroidery, education in plant-based medicine. It might sound ludicrous, but those things are not easily "done from scratch" and require the ability to plan for the future, set priorities, etc..

My opinion... Flopping on one's back, getting a hard on, or sticking one's ass in the air doesn't require any kind of skill. Throughout much of history, people who did that excessively were considered burdens on society, brutish, cheap, as useless people.

There's no real magnetic energy there when you're with someone who feels entitled to a hump with you simply because they exist. Could be my lizard brain telling me "don't fuck a moron, you don't want stupid offspring", but who knows.
