Future of the House

They made their own bed. Getting pregnant in your 40s? But who knew a $600 visit to PP would have saved Barb from getting diddled by her own kid.
Honestly I doubt she would have done even that. Bob and Barb were old enough to think that getting their idiot kid special education was going to be some kind of social stigma and they were regularly attending church - abortion may never have even been a possibility.

I don't know a lot about Bob's first marriage, but I assume the woman he was with was considerably different from Barb.
It is an interesting mystery. Given the kids turned out extremely well, and seem to have their shit together, it probably wasn't one where his first wife went crazy, on her own accord. Obviously his kids didn't like him, and Cole sure as hell didn't, makes me wonder if it was a Bob thing for the most part. By the time Chris came around, Bob was already ancient and like Chris, may have had a huge bout of younger energy then it just eased on down.

I understood Chris was a child they wanted. While there's an increased risk of challenges, plenty of women in their forties have lovely babies who grow up to be lovely people who don't rape.

Special education wouldn't have taught Chris not to abuse people.

It is definitely thunk-provoking. For some reason, Bob's kids from his first marriage didn't seem to like him very much (of the two, only David Alan Chandler, the ophthalmologist, appeared at his funeral). I'll hazard a guess and say that Bob might have been autistic himself, but this wasn't understood at the time, and he came off as an asshole to his first family, leading to his kids being estranged and his wife divorcing him. Bob, unable to understand what caused this, falls into a deep hole of grief and loneliness, longing for a family, for belonging. Along comes Barb, and the rest is history.

Bob's story might be the most tragic in all of Christory, possibly surpassing Chris himself.

My guess is if Barb is sent to nursing care or an assisted living home it will be via Mediciad as she has very little.

In Virginia they can't force you to sell your home to pay for it, but they can claim it after you pass.

Plus all but maybe less than 100$ of her social security would go to whatever facility she's in to lessen the Medicaid bill, so Chris would be on his own to pay for it.
Doesn’t the bank own her home though if repayments haven’t been made?

Wow, Barb really is a fucking parasite, isn't she?

Unfortunately Barb is not alone in that regard. One of the worst things about Barb is just how banal her evil is. She doesn't have the sort of highbrow, mustachio twirling, planning and plotting evil. Hers is the sort of evil where she simply chooses not to be good, because she can't be bothered.

I understood Chris was a child they wanted.

Barb, and especially Bob, were of a generation where all children were "wanted". Well, maybe not Barb. What she wanted was a house she didn't have to pay for.

While there's an increased risk of challenges, plenty of women in their forties have lovely babies who grow up to be lovely people who don't rape.

And the woman's overall health is one of the largest factors in that. One look at Barb and you could tell her children would be special.

Special education wouldn't have taught Chris not to abuse people.

That depends on how special the education was. Even so, there was only one way to find out, and Borb refused it.

Mainstreaming sure as fuck didn't teach Chris.

Barb owns 14BLC. Her name is on the title, and she is the one responsible to pay property taxes for it. The bank merely has a lien against the property. This means that if Barb fails to repay the money she owes the bank, the bank can foreclose to recover the money they are owed, buit not the whole house. Technically the money is the bank's, not the house itself. However, foreclosure law is complex and a little weird. In theory the property is sold, the bank gets what's owed it, and the homeowner gets what equity is left over. However, if the bank forces a sale in a foreclosure, it's the bank that gets to hire the home appraiser and set the asking price. Often foreclosed homes are "appraised" for little more than the amount still owed the bank, plus fees, so the bank gets what's owed them from the fastest sale possible, and the homeowner gets fuck all.

tl;dr: Pay your mortgage bills, fucko.

I think what makes Barb so awful is more how she effectively takes advantage of people she talks to. She does that creepy thing where she tries to make people she targets feel inferior or ellicets pity. Barb was able to run through five different men before she ever met Bob.

Basically, this. They even said in the High School interview how "It's nice to have kids", and Barb and Bob were basically textbook baby boomers.

That's her choosing not to be good. She doesn't bother to make a moral or ethical choice. It's simply easier for her to take advantage of people than fix her own shit.

Chris is much the same in that regard, but with added crazy.

I fear that much like Barb, Chris will continuously age, and never die too. It seems that almost anything you would think would kill him, it just doesn't.

The cycle continues as she had Chris. Chris is probably the last Chandler, but really, he's the last Weston. Some of the Weston's (Harriet) have fared better.

Just like Chris, but Barb has a better success rate. With Chris, he ran through most of 'theoretical exes', but they were all trolls.

Chris will go the same way as his dad: heart failure covered with bug bites.

Well, and he did have one chance at actually having a relationship with someone who wanted to fuck him, but he pussed out on that too, thinking his relationship with her wouldn't last long.

I'm pretty sure the Chandler line is safe thanks to Bob's children from his first wife.
It's sad because Bob tried to teach Chris the importance of legacy, in terms of passing things to the next generation. Chris has proven that he is irresponsible with things, and will definitely not have any kids because: 1. Some true and honest woman would have to be desperate; 2. Chris' mutilated his testosterone; 3. If by some miracle Chris does have a kid, he wouldn't know how to take care of it. Unfortunate that Chris came from a family of scumbags and bootleggers.

I bet Bob thought Chris would have the house so that he can leave for his kids. NOPE.

Agreed. Bob's other children seem to have turned out normal enough to successfully carry on the Chandler blood line.

It's probably for the best Chris doesn't reproduce considering the Chandler gene pool is more like a gene septic tank. Even on the rare possibility the child is born normal, they won't stay that way for long if the remain with Chris.
