Social media killed the pro-choice movement. Before social media, the pro-choice position was articulated by politicians and activists from pro-choice NGOs, who couched their advocacy in the notion that abortion should be available as a measure of last resort, to responsible couples practicing proper family planning and using contraceptives. As mentioned elsewhere ITT, the go-to slogan was "safe, legal and rare".

Now, that almost certainly never was what was going on behind the scenes, especially in the ghetto abortion clinics, but that's how it was sold. With the rise of twitter/facebook/tumblr and the corresponding rise in hashtag activism, the casual, self-important, even gleeful attitudes many pro-choice supporters had towards abortion were broadcast widely to the world, instead of between individuals. Unironically the first time #ShoutYourAbortion trended, it sounded the death knell for the popularity of expanded abortion access laws around the country.

Catladies and empowered professional women tweeting shit like "Fetus Deletus" and suggesting having an abortion was a feminist statement did more to damage the pro-abortion movement than any kind of right-wing propaganda ever could.

I also credit that shit to internet pornography and it's long term consequences. It created a culture where extremely inappropriate activities, images, ideologies, became "the norm" in public discourse. The widespread acceptance of pornography and it's warping of human sexual preferences predates modern Tik-Tok "thots". The more people decided sex was "no big deal" and consumed sexual images 24/7, the more they wanted sex, felt entitled to sex with no effort, the more they demanded sex with no boundaries (which includes increasing acceptance of child grooming), and the more they felt entitled to sex with no consequences..

I think inceldom, tumblerinas, thots, troons, and a great more social deviancies are the result of ubiquitous online porn consumption and/or online grooming. Some people can "handle" exposure to incessant inappropriate porn without having it warp their mentality, but a great deal of people simply can't handle it. Social media helped the warped ideologies spread, but the porn came first. Dating apps were an offshoot off craigslist and other online forums, which developed due to people wanting to find their perfect partners for "no-strings attached porn sex". Social media was also connected to this, as Zuckerberg and his buddies developed a platform to "rate" fellow female students' bodies and faces as potential NSA sex partners (porn influence again).

During that time, women's advocacy groups, which were often pro-choice, have been infiltrated by transgenderism, troons, and "sex positivity". Porn culture invaded women's spaces, including abortion advocacy. Advocacy went from supporting women, promoting sex offender registries, drawing women away from prostitution, encouraging intelligent sexual choices, specifically focusing on advocating for abortion access for rape victims, etc.-- to supporting the troon-tranny Gender Theory "sex positivity" ideologies and promoting promiscuity.

Now, curtailing abortion "rights" is seen as a deliberate impediment on people's ability to access consequence-free sex. The fact women get pregnant is deliberately suppressed by many of these people, because they just see women as porn holes to pump cum into. It's ironic as hell watching porn-obsessed troons and atheist MRA dude bros claiming this is an attack on their "freedom".

Abortion rights have become steeped in pornography culture since at least the 1990s, when internet porn became easily available. It's kind of ironic in that pro-choice supporters have BECOME what the "right wing nutters" claimed they were back in the 1990s. It gives credibility to the idea that abortion seekers are "just a bunch of satan-worshipping dick riding whores and deviants". The false-teaming of Pride TM and the ugly hideous corporate rainbow shit flag makes it even worse.

They haven't though. Maybe they've convinced service class wagies they're their true and honest friends, but Democrats no longer acting in working class interests is the real reason the South and West flipped Republican post-1960's. Let me explain:

-Historically, Democrats were the party of the rural/southern "producing class", as William Jennings Bryan put it. Farmers and resource extractors who lived in the heartland and delivered all the material that sustained the growing cities and the industrial products they manufactured. They did not have a lot of sway with the industrial working class of the urban centers. This dynamic persisted (with few exceptions) all the way from Reconstruction to WWII.
-Republicans, meanwhile, were the party of Northeastern elites and the business interest, mostly creating policy that appealed to upper-class educated professionals and (when needed, to keep them from voting Dem), the industrial working class.

The 1960's completely changed this dynamic, because the Democrat party was seized by a group of upper-class, educated professionals (sound familiar?) calling themselves the New Left. Post-Watergate, they further solidified their hold over the party and began advocating urbanist policy appealing to that class, with occasional scraps for urban workers in the new service economy (no industrial working class left in cities when manufacturing has either been offshored or dispersed across the country) to keep them voting Democrat. They branded the Republicans of old as the Democrats of new.

So where do the religious rural producing class go, now that there are two urbanist parties that ignore or, in the case of the New Left Democrats, actively belittle their culture and beliefs? They go to their only other option and usurp/transform it. First along religious lines (leading to the Reagan Revolution), but as their true issues continue to be ignored, and as the false piety of many of their leaders elected on religious grounds begins to register with voters, along populist lines.

They don't have to defy the Supreme Court. If your state's legislature wants to guarantee a right to abortion and birth control, or a referendum puts it in the state constitution, the Supreme Court is not going to do a damn thing about it. The Supreme Court cannot outlaw abortion.

Those local elected officials people pay no attention to and skip the midterm and state elections for? Those are the people who CAN. Not fucking Clarence Thomas, not even if he were black as the Ace of Spades.

Also the deck is stacked in favor of modern women- welfare, public assistance through nonprofits and churches, child support courts- it's amazing that they get one setback that is really nothing more than saying hey, maybe the constitution didn't codify abortion rights- and it's the end of the fucking world.

Thank you, Im glad someone can see their is subtlety to this argument, there absolutely cases for when abortion is necessary, having stillborn pregnancies and having mentally or physically deficient children who would have terrible lives is an obvious reason, but yes if people felt they could kill children merely as an excuse for their moral failings that would certainly lead to a more degenerate society. As for the latter yes I don’t agree entirely but even so what about poorer women? America doesn’t have free healthcare even now having that child even to just give it away would no doubt be costly. These so called safety nets don’t seem as liable as you make them out to be.
