General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

No wonder Ina likes hugs from her. She's in chonk mode.

So let me get this straight:
-KSON/Coco is upset how her career was progressing in Hololive and decides to leave on good terms.
Okay.
-KSON's subs spike afterward to the point she is close to Coco's sub count and has all the creative freedom without corporate agency overlords.
Great.
-She then decides to not be independent and throw her lot in with another agency.
What?
For all her promises of bigger and better things she otherwise would not be able to do under Hololive's branch, she does this in the end.
I'm not angry or upset, just disappointed.
I mean, really?
VShoujo?
I get she is friendly with the talent but I expected Snuffy or Shylily to join them before KSON even considered it.

Put yourself in the shoes of Kson for a minute and it's not that hard to grasp.

VS CEO: Hey Kson wanna be part of VS?
Ksn: What's in for me?
CEO: You'll get a ton of exposure, talent and support in the USA to expand even further in the western market and we'll fly you out to LA Anime expo for a big showdown. We'll hook you up with new sponsors and be constantly on the lookout for new ones for you with our team and established network. We won't touch your youtube channel or twitch, you keep all the earnings. We'll only get a % of sponsored work you do.
We'll also be opening a new branch in Japan and we want you to be the face and leader of that branch.
---

That's probably how it went. Will Kson lose some hardcore simps from this? Yeah maybe, but Kson isn't in it for the money anymore, she's making bank either way. She's an entertainer through and throught and this is probably her best chance to quickly gain more of an audience.

My first reaction, like many, was a bitter taste in my mouth but after 20 minutes it became clear that this is better than whatever was happening before, yabs, rrats, whatever will come from this will be more entertaining for me that what was before.

And yes, that is rushia/mikeneko.

Yeah I don't think it's too hard to see that VShojo is a pretty sweet deal if you're already a successful indie. You get to hook up with an agency who'll handle sponsorships, merch, and some marketing for you with the benefit of industry connections that are damn hard to get and take advantage of flying solo - all for relatively little financial overhead. You still maintain pretty much complete creative control and - most importantly - still own your own brand and IP unlike more traditional corps like Holo where you lose out on a lot of bargaining power since they own your model.
Sure the lack of management can be a little too extreme in some cases who really need it, and I'd wonder what the case is going to be for this new-start whose model was presumably bankrolled by Vshojo, but if you could get in on the ground floor for a new branch I don't see why you wouldn't take advantage.

If it truly is Mike-Cat/Rushia, i wonder then, will they wrangle the hardcore GFE then?, its kinda funny that Rushia was blasted for having a boy toy on the side and she ended up allegedly joining a corpo that has a major talent that openly has one
The queen of unicorns joining an anti-unicorn agency. Ironic and rather rhubarbed

Thought I was hallucinating from Pipkin withdrawal but I've checked and the rrats were true. Kson is a Vshojo now. And to think I spammed Twitter, Reddit, Discord, YT and everywhere I go with elaborate eulogies praising her previous persona as Vtuber Jesus.

But then again, here's my thoughts. As a saviourchad and a survivor of one of the biggest yabs in vtubing (pissing off a global superpower), she'd be the very type of person who will know how to deal with yabs. Whatever happens to VShojo is nothing compared to what she had to endure. So ultimately, even if 4chan melted down as it usually does whenever Vshojo is mentioned, it will just end up a nothingburger.

Still happy for Kson, still supporting her, but I've moved on. My Oshi is Pippa now.

I hope you wonderful posters in the thread are having a nice Saturday night!

Tonight the guides will be taking us on another adventure through Resident Evil 4! Last time, the guides had to postpone playing due to a save file corruption issue. I believe Eina-sensei just started the game up again and played it herself to where around the girls were last at before the save file went dead.
Anyway, sit back and relax for another stream of Aki going through fight and flight mode! Mostly flight :tomgirl:

Thoughts on the VShojo situation.

From Vshojo's perspective:
Incredibly smart. Poached not only two ex-Hololive members, but the two highest earners. The baggage they come with isn't even that big, and they likely have connections in Japan that VShojo would not otherwise have easy access to. This acquisition also will likely grant the company some legitimacy as a competitor in the eyes of the JP scene.

From Kson/Mikeneko's perspective:
Incredibly dumb. Vshojo's management is a shitshow, the other members get themselves into controversy routinely, and their corporation seems to offer the least to its talents while promising "freedom" that they already had anyway. The company isn't smart enough to stop its talents politisperging about highly divisive topics, and it gets involved in absolute debacles of their own creation like the Nux Taku situation.

From my perspective:
For Mikeneko, I get it. She was stuck in the ocean without a life vest and any opportunity looks good. For Kson... I can't believe you traded Watame for the likes of Veibae. Well, whatever, she just hasn't been the same since she left Hololive so it's not like I care all that much personally. If anything, it's going to be fun hopping over to /vt/ now to watch the meltdown.

So this appeared on my feed and made me think: How are the chances of Phase Connect buying Tsunderia or both merging in one company?
Kson would be the type of person who would be able to tardwrangle the likes of Vei.
If Vei allows it, which knowing her, isnt most likely.

You just brought up a question I don't think anyone's discussed yet: assuming the angel is Mikeneko, why would she have to rebrand? Is it an attempt to distance herself from antis or something?
SPINK CAT BAD IS RESERVED
Honestly, probably both these things. People already mix up Nyanners and Mouse, another pink-haired girl would probably make it worse.

Mike trying to distance herself from the Mikeneko persona is probably a good idea, anyway.

been over a year since our dragon left hololive and she is once again in the spot light so I just want to say
fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china fuck china
AND
Support indies!

In practice not without explicit authority over her, which Vshojo doesn't really do, and maybe not even then. Vei would just distance herself. She already barely interacts with the other Vshojo talents as it is with rrats saying it's because they didn't fall in line with her regarding the Shylily debacle.
I wouldn't even really call Vei a vtuber - more a generic twitch thot who just happens to have an avatar. Even for Kson there's only so much you can do and connect with on that front.
