It's the lack of payoff. DSP has his constant meltdowns, yeah, and his income is slowly sinking. But then most situations he lucks through (the bankruptcy), makes up ridiculous fake stories about (his identity was stolen and cost him thousands to deal with but the information IN the leaks showing where his money really goes is all lies), or just takes another L (losing Twitch, Champions, even the 300-pound Kat photo) and limps on. He's so insulated and willing to degrade himself for money that he just avoids reality. There's only so many ways to fuck with a shut-in who won't interact with humans.
