Lucas is trying to ape Destiny's bit of finding the most "deranged" members of his opposition and debating them, except when Destiny did it, he was serious about it. Destiny also studies debate and is very autistic about being the best debater. I think the whole debate thing is pretty gay, but it does work in his favor as he knows all of the little tricks after he lost the Athene or whatever his name was and realized it was because the other guy knew the tricks of debate better.
