General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

>Believing Bilibili is a good source of revenue

ja
Vox made 130k+$ in his Bilibili debut. Then again that was a debut so it's to be expected, and iirc Bilibili takes 50% of streamer revenue and Anycolor then takes another 50%, he's left with around 30k$~
That being said, I do agree though. People complain about Twitch and YouTube taking 30% of their income, meanwhile chink sites like Bilibili take a fuck ton more.
This is obviously corpo shilling even Holo/Niji have their fair share of cons. There is no such thing as perfect company.
To be fair, cons Nijisanji and Hololive have as an agency don't apply to VShojo. For example, unlike both those corpos, VShojo doesn't own the rights to your content and character. For all its member's fuckups, VShojo as a platform is considerably better than Hololive and Nijisanji in a lot of ways. The only real downsides that they have is that their members are cunts and that could potentially rub off on you, and that they aren't as popular. Even then, they're making big strides to getting their name known across the industry. But yes, there is no such thing as a perfect company.
Considering now we know membership is actually a huge portion of income for streamers/content creators that has one, VShoujo taking most, if not all, from the merch sales is a smart move
This is especially true for Kson. She makes most of her money from membership and superchat revenue so she's basically got the advantage in their deal.

I truly am high on copium to believe that Kson can fix VShojo. She's got the experience to do so.

I don't know if I'm cynical if it comes to this stuff but time and again concepts like Vshojo sound perfect, but most every attempt trying something similar has always ended badly typically years down the line. Machinima, The Creatures, and Roosterteeth come to mind, all started ideal but eventually ended up imploding from both disorganization, bad decisions, and eventually becoming more corporate anyway.

Having read through the translations of her stream it's clear on why she specifically joined Vshojo outside Gunrun's sales pitch and tech demo.

1:12:43 Kson: I hope that one day, we will not longer have the independent/corporation distinction.
1:12:56 Kson: We'll just all be VTubers working toward our own goals, having the support we need.
1:13:06 Kson: The only thing that matters is having fun.
1:13:15 Kson: Just try whatever you want and have fun.
1:13:25 Kson: Even if you fail, you can go, "Oh well! Time to try the next thing!"
1:13:37 Kson: At least, this is the environment I want to create for all VTubers.

She literally wants the freedom of indies while having the resource backing and legal protection of Corpos minus the obligations and requirements. It seems like the ideal compromise essentially Corpos get their profits while the chuuba does whatever but it definitely sounds like she's trying to have her cake and eat it.

Call me a schizo, but It reminds me too much of a politician's speech (at least like the ones I'm used to hear over here).
Too big of a promise for the kind of role and influence she has.

Honestly, I can see it going either way, a trashfire or a success. Either way it is too early to tell.
Cover may have legitimate concerns of NDA and leak issues if one of their talents lives with and is besties with one of their main competitors.
Man, I didn't even think about that. That would really suck for those two if Cover did that, though I definitely understand the concern.

So... Kanata abandons Holo for VShojo, when?

What are they gonna do? Forcibly evict her from her home? Tell her she has to move or she's fired? They've already put on the record that they don't get involved in personal lives.

All they can really do is reiterate how important the terms of the contract is and I'm sure neither of them have a desire to jeopardise one another's career at all. I don't think that's the reason for the meeting.

Yes, she is a representative of an organisation promoting said organisation to an audience of people.

And it worked, the 100% revenue split perked the overwhelming majority of the Japanese viewers up, and she slam-dunked the point home by saying that she feels this is the direction the industry should go. Now her viewers who have overlap with other corporations will be more aware that 70% of their generously donated, hard-earned money is going to a faceless suit somewhere out of sight.

Vshojo doesn't force the talents to pursue an Idol career, with singing and shit like that, unlike many other corpos.
It's almost like, you know, Hololive is an actual virtual idol corp and was advertised as such. I assume she knew what she was getting into when she singned her contract. But surely she underestimated the whole idol thing.

Speaking of the Kanata's "emergency" meeting: What was the the alleged term of the contract with cover? 2 years + yearly renewel? Gen 4 debuted at the very end of 2019.

So... Kanata abandons Holo for VShojo, when?
Never. She's best friends with Kson but she joined Hololive specifically to pursue a music career while she still has time before her disease renders her unable to sing. Joining now or anytime soon means foregoing her original goal/dream and starting again with a company that doesn't even focus on music.

However this story ends right now it's a big marketing success for VShojo and KSon. After the biggest North American anime convention everyone is talking about them. At the same time you didn't hear anything from Cover. The company with the biggest EN vtubers in their portfolio. In my book it's just another case of bad management by Cover. They don't know how or maybe even don't want to promote their talents.

I mean, VOMs is having the exact same system. Different scale of operation, sure, but same nonetheless.

Imagine the flame in subreddit if that even got hint at. :story:

The red suppas instantly rolling in as she said that. We can assumed that JP fans brought the whole sale pitch already. Let's hope their dream don't get shattered down the line.

I feel less cynical about Voms specifically because their keeping it small and simple. Kson's Vshojo pitch and her ambitions not to mention Vshojo's JP expansion just makes me feel overly cautious about where they could end up.

See, that's the mentality you shouldn't have. VShoujo is open and lets people do what they want to a great extent, meaning head bitch Coco from the Hololive days can't exist in that setting. Anyone who's expecting her to tardwrangle at any point are just asking her to get into unnessesary drama she can't actually do anything about.

In other news, apparently Calli DID fuck up her taxes, she discovered. Guess I read wrong about changes to the tax treaty in 2020. Now I want to know why she hasn't hired someone to do them for her.
I mean we already knew she wasn't the smartest tool in the shed but that's probably one of her biggest dumb moments yet.

Edit: Not even yab that's just a wtf moment.

I feel sick just reading this. So many different revenue streams in multiple countries. A small team might have been needed to sort that mess out properly.
