General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I try not to comment without being caught up because I don't want to be redundant or say something that turns out to be wrong/disproven, but that is getting harder and harder to do. I read a few pages and have to do something else and I come back and there are 5 more pages! I have been working at a net loss and only finally catching up again. This thread may be getting too hard to keep up with...

I think everything has been said about kson (and probably not-rushia) joining vshojo from a technical/business perspective, not much I can add but my personal opinion is I'm meh about it.

I never really liked Coco/kson. I don't like the crass humor and constant swearing - also why I don't bother with Calli or Kiara or any of vshojo (even mouse is, just not as coomerbaity as the others, but still constant swearing and crass from what I've watched). I don't care that much, I just don't watch them and move on, but with Coco/kson I kind of got tired of how she is put on a pedestal and given so much credit for being a "pillar" of EN vtubing. While she was admittedly popular, I still think EN would have kicked off without her and she was just right place at the right time to capture that audience until full-time ENs came onto the scene. I'm sure I piss off all her fans here for not believing she was the savior and that she is kind of mid or maybe lower, in my opinion.

As for not-rushia, I never watched her at all, so not much to say other than her specialty of GFE is just coomerbait-lite (coomerbait for "seiso" fans?) to me and cringy. Definitely not my thing either, combined with her being JP only meant I don't get anything out of it at all. But that may fit in well with vshojo if it is indeed her.

So I don't really like or watch any vshojo, kson, or rushia, so in the end it doesn't really affect what or who I will watch or enjoy. I guess we'll see how much drama and entertainment comes out of it. Already a good amount seeing all the reactions from both sides here and elsewhere. Or maybe it will just be no big deal and this thread can slow back down to reasonable levels for a little while, which would be nice too.

Was there any doubt? She's friends with TT and Sydsnap/Hime, so I wouldn't expect anything else. Now that she signed the music deal though as Calli, she's pretty trapped in that persona at this point for at least another couple years.

Mumei is my 2nd favorite holoEN singer, behind only Gura, but I don't think she did a great job during this karaoke. She seemed to miss a lot more notes and just not know the songs very well for a lot of them.

And maybe that comment from @Rhialtokourai was made more towards the beginning, but listening to it all I have to disagree. Felt like there were a lot of times where she would just randomly interrupt songs with weird nervous noises, make comments, or just randomly stop and say she was done with a song in the middle of it.

I did enjoy that she did SSS though and it was pretty well done! I was trying to remember, but was that her first time singing it in public?

Hmmm, so mouse is like us? She likes having a real face to go to the voice too. Can she blame her fans for wanting to see a real picture of her when she feels the same way?

In Hana's case, she was lauded by Koefficient as 'The funniest V-Tuber ever' for a while and had SodaFunk exclusively clip her stuff. Well that and one of Hana's more entertaining aspects, her dad just stopped showing up on her streams. He's one of the main sources of her clips back in the day but one day he just stopped appearing. Apparently because he started sharing some of his political opinions on stream one time and while he's not really a tanky like Mana he was still a far left communist (yes I'm serious).

Buckos already offered. She seems like she's determined to replace the battery right now though.

It's unknown what she was planning but it sounded like she was trying to finish this on an emulator despite her mods saying she's a corpo and emulators are a no-no.

lol no it depends, some corpos allow it, some dont, there has been some theories that you can get away with it in things like FPGA consoles or just play in something that is not going to derp half way

you could try browsing leddit. Usually merch goods have an official mod post from either the talent themselves or the holo mod accts. Sometimes fanposts too, but those are sometimes showing off merch or the like.. could just be equally helpful if you just want to see previous merch

Call me cynical but I don't think a company gets 11 million dollars in venture capital and keeps their previous corporate culture.
There are plenty of stories about tech companies completely changing after they started getting venture capital, partly because future VC is held over the executives' heads and investors demand sweeping changes to minimize waste and maximize profit.

Whatever sweetheart deals Vshojo has with talent will eventually change and thinking it won't is wishful thinking.
