It's a form of therapy that alters activity in regions of the brain using magnetic pulses, as I understand it. I believe I originally saw it in a psychology textbook, so as far as I know it's a valid form of treatment. I'm not saying you're wrong but you're acting like she needs anything less than drastic steps at this point. Since their bloodwork is a year old they are probably actually diabetic at this point. The liver's already fatty to some degree with that weight, those drugs, and alcohol to boot (oh and excluded from donor lists without major/HRT-excluding life changes). Fatty Boombalatty gets no carbs which really means an incidental/unavoidable amount (less than 30g/day). Hold that for a month, learn some self control, and then listen to the science man up here about biology.

She's on Risperdal/risperidone, a second generation ("atypical") antipsychotic medication. It happens to be absolutely notorious for causing severe weight gain and subsequent metabolic dysfunction.

Other side effects include thought disturbance or neurocognitive impairment, anxiety, and loss of sexual ability. Sound like anyone we know?

Because of the severity of its side effects, risperidone is not a drug that a doctor gives you because you're feeling a little blue. It's a "big gun", approved as first-line treatment of psychosis. Basically, it's prescribed when whatever brand of crazy a person is exhibiting is more dangerous than the side effects of the medication.

I guess I have two major points here. First, she can cut carbs three ways to Sunday, but she will struggle to lose weight as long as she's on risperidone. Second, and more importantly, whatever is going on with her is much deeper than being a fat, terminally online genderspecial. We aren't privy to the whole story here, and it's unlikely that this individual can be reasoned with. Her reality is simply not the same as the one most people occupy.

(It's also unconscionable to me that any physician would be willing to prescribe "gender-affirming healthcare" to someone already on risperidone, but I guess that's the state of the world now.)

Edited to add that if @Mr. Cool ICE takes anything at all from this thread, I hope it's that she really, really needs to stop drinking alcohol while on risperidone.
