Is there a thread of foreigners especially Europeans obsession with the USA. NO amount of free health care, low gun crime, etc is gonna make me want to be around them and in their country.

It always makes me laugh on any type of mom or dad page on facebook these freaks gather just to bash parents or children, if you are that happy without kids why do you flock to pages that have nothing to do with you? Because you are unhappy and want to spread the misery.
If you are a parent and dont fit into their delusions of what you should be they act like your lying. Like having money, are happier, etc. Not all childfree people I know are hateful people but about 85% of them I find really hateful selfish and judgmental. Also immature.

It's hilarious how they ignore the fact that there are (large) areas of Europe that are far more conservative and religious than the U.S. To them Europe = Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, the UK and maybe Spain.

And not even all of those places, mostly the urban areas. In general, at least Western Europe is more secular. However, you can look at somewhere like the Netherlands, which looks liberal at first glance because lmao blaze it eerrryday 420 and privacy protections, but people are by and large conservative, they just want the government to leave them the fuck alone, so the liberal-looking policies actually come from a conservative place.

The secularism/nonbelief of Western Europe is vastly overstated. For most of those countries belief if God is the majority position, for instance in Germany it is at 60+ percent. The UK seems to be an outlier there, with few people saying they believe in God, it kinda depends on which survey you look at though.

The baby box excuse annoys me. I have nothing against baby boxes or save heaven laws. If you are desperate to get rid of a child right now, having a way that's easy, save and legal for the mother is good for everyone involved. More importantly it has nothing to do with this.

The whole point of these is that you aren't actually abandoning the baby but putting them up for adoption fast and in secret. It exists because people realized the full official adoption arrangement can be too much if you have hide the pregnancy or you are having a mental break down. So giving out a low effort and attention method that isn't as good but still safe for the child is way less harmful than letting desperate women to come up with own plans in middle of a crisis.

Reading some of the child free people is sad. Like, if you’re doing something neat in public, like walking your adorable dog or picking your apples or feeding ducks at the park and a kid comes up and asks you a few questions, is that the worst thing?

Raising little kids through Covid has been a trick. Mine is very curious and pretty confident. He will say hi to every kid and most adults. He asks if he can pet your dog and what’s her name? If you don’t like it: say no, ignore him or walk away, it’s fine. I’m also standing right there in case he gets weird.

But in these strange times, especially with older people, a few minutes chatting with a cute kid who is interested in you is a jolt of connection for lonely people who may be having a hard time.

They would say about how they miss seeing children or how happy it made them to see us. Isn’t that strange? I see two opposite reactions- kids who are weirded out by the very idea of a strange kid wanting to play together at the park…. And the opposite. My kid has had older kids (say 8 or 9) be patient and play with younger kids because they are just happy to hang out.

Although if my husband and I are willing to listen there are a lot of kids desperate for adult attention who will talk until your ear falls off.

I think a huge reason you see so much "child free" sentiment these days is because it has become something of a meme to talk about how insanely difficult it is to be a parent. I got a surprise baby dropped in my lap and all everyone could do when I told them was try to pile on the stress and worry.

"Oh my God are you freaking out yet!? Are you worried!? How are you going to cope!? How will you afford it!? You are going to struggle so much! Newborns are super hard to care for!"

And I'm like... no? It's a fucking baby, not a brain tumor. People in infinitely worse situations than mine raise like 6 kids, I'm fairly confident one infant won't be the end of the world. But when people do nothing but push the narrative as to how negative it will be to have a crying poop machine I can see why some people decide to get their dick snipped at 13 to avoid it, like getting a limb lopped as a pre-emptive measure.

Reddit is gonna reddit of course but this is what I noticed as a dad to be. You got congratulations and shit but the underlying fear everyone seemed to have was surprising, and it's not just my situation either, since my friend who is rich as fuck had a planned pregnancy a year ago and expressed the same sentiment.
