The World Ends With You gets a sequel announced after 13 years of waiting. - THE POWER IS YET UNKNOWN

CRUNCH!!!

Impulse bought due to mixed but remember overall liking feelings the original and... I really like this one!

OG I recall being pretty anti-emo in the story and themes by the end, but when I tried to replay maybe a decade ago Neku annoyed me way too much to stick around. Probably not so bad now a days if I retried but that line "U HAVE UR VALUES AND I HAVE MINE" made me cringe. 14 year olds don't have values lol. Thankfully this game doesn't have any sad muppets so far.

Battle system is really fun once you get the hang of it. Music is so far what I wanted and so far sounds darker and heavier. Kool af remixes of orginal songs too.

The art direction really pops in this game too. An IP where Nomura's work actually... works. Saw stupid kids in my search across the internet for opinions claiming this is ripping off Persona. Bitch please, it's the other way if anything. Persona didn't get bombastic with its U.I. until Persona 5 anyways unless you count the eye stabbing yellows and reds from P4 and P2 ports (personally I always got a Jet Set Radio vibe from this series myself).

I just beat it and I loved it but I feel like I'm going to get Carpal tunnel, holy fuck my hand hurts. I also seem to have a hate boner for the scramble slam. I've tried trice and haven't managed to get 400k for that stupid fucking pin, my last attempt was I got 360k.

Played it the last two weeks and finally beat it, overall it's an improvement in most aspects but I did felt that a lot of battles had a lot of dead air when you just wait for the pins to recharge, also the main characters are overall less memorable in personality and history. First game had Shiki having terrible self image, Neku being an autist, Beat being a fucking Idiot and Joshua being a sochiopath. Meanwhile Fret and Rindo are pretty well adjusted, and Nagi is more of a weird talking shtick and doesn't really interact with the plot. The game also feels a bit too long, like jesus christ the last day is about two hours of not even fighting anything but just interacting with different people.

I have to say the final boss is just fucking terrible, I had to turn down the difficulty to normal mainly because it's a fight that takes fucking ages even if you have good pins (with plenty of cases of it basically going into extended phases where you can't hit it and you don't even need to move to evade its attacks) and it can kill you insanely quickly if you aren't careful, this is not helped by the camera completely fucking up. Also some pins just don't work for some encounters (like airborne enemies that are missed by shotgun attacks), which is extremely annoying.

I don't think I'll go into NG+ since dear god the amount of cutscenes (that aren't skippable) is insane. Also the pin evolution mechanic is ridiculous when it's character specific and the game never tells you that.

The game does tell you. Its just in the journals you have to buy.

I skipped reading those since it all seemed to be just the tutorials you already read. It's still a terrible feature considering you have 7 party members (and I think the game just outright says that evolution is impossible) so good fucking luck finding who to use (if you even have that character). At least have the option to reset pin level.

Theres literally an ability you can unlock via the social links that tells you which party member levels which ??? Evolution Pins. The game does a reasonable job explaining if you actually engage with its systems.

The shitty part is that ability is given to you late game (i seem to remember it comes around when you get last party member) and you get those pins early on. And those pins when leveled are pretty strong and the game rewards you for just looking it up.

Reason i remember this is i saw pretty explicit stuff in the game trying to direct you about the ??? Evolution system and thinking "kind of late to be explaining this now".

Alright So TWEWY Neo is going to have a crossover series of quests in a new game called Reynatis

Despite not directly invovling Nomura. it has the same song artist and scenario writer as Final Fantasy 15 and looks HEAVILY inspired by the original version which was 13 versus. At first I was somewhat dismissive of it... but this looks like some serious stealth marketing to gauge consumer interest in more games like this.

Im gonna buy the shit out of it. Gameplay looks good and even if it is Diet final fantasy I like the designs. Oh and TWEWY is in it so this might be linked to KH in some small tiny ass way.

Also the timing of how they presented this was pretty interesting. It was orignally passed off as an april fools joke before they revealed recently it was real.

Hard to tell from existing media but it looks like it has that modern Asian game design philosophy where it looks like you're playing really well but you're actually just mashing buttons mindlessly and the game is basically playing itself. Cool setting, cool crossover, and cool amounts of booba though. Hopefully I'm wrong.

It looks cool. Clearly on a budget but from what ive seen it seems like there's a decent amount of actual reflex action.

It looks like the gimmik is swithcing between a DMC style action mode, and a weaponless form where you can bullet time dodge attacks and counterattack at the last possible second with magic .
