A "ghost gun" is a gun that never had a serial number because it was made from an 80% lower or something along those lines.
Are we going by the ATF definition or gun guy one? ATF considers even damaged serials ghost guns.
Not when 15 minutes away there are none...which is why the COUNTRY AS A WHOLE is the point....you're just pretending to be stupid right?
The only thing 15 minutes away from Highland Park that isn't still Illinois is Lake Michigan. Which, is completely ignoring the part where the state police let this retard have a FOID.
of the unlicensed mills and lathes
I learned recently most 5 axis mills are 3+2 because continuous 5 axis mills have to be registered with Department of Energy.

Bob had bitch-tits.

Can't reply to @Norbert the Tiger but thanks for the NYP article+archive. Since nobody posted a photo of his father here yet (just obliquely mentioned him), I thought I'd share here:

Robert Crimo looked disgusting -- nipples protruding -- in his black shirt before the NY Post. Very very disrespectful.

There should be parenting classes but let’s face no one would ever agree on what ‘good parenting’ even is and hell most people wouldn’t listen anyway.
That's fine, I don't want to presume to tell other people how to raise their kids.

However.

IF you do such a bang-up job of raising your kid that THIS is the result, and you then place that burden on society in the most acute fashion possible by signing an affidavit so he can buy guns (after he has made homicidal and suicidal statements within a year), perhaps recriminations should fall on you.

Eh, you could be a decent parent and your child might still turn out fucked up for whatever reason

I find the whole conversation about his parents needing to report him for concerning behaviour sort of amusing and maybe a bit unrealistic. Let's assume he was actually a bit of a concern at home because he threatened to kill his family, who the fuck are they meant to call after that's sorted? Can't really call the police and say "my child is fucked in the head and I'm concerned he might shoot up something in the future" because what are they meant to do when he's not actually threatening to shoot anyone up?

Seen people elsewhere say that the people interacting with him online and watching his music videos should have done the same. Again, sort of the same issue, no?

Lets say they search the house and find some weird plans or stuff that suggests he may be planning to shoot something up. Great, but then there's the whole legal system part of it to deal with - how much planning do you need for it to be prosecuted? Is someone who is very right wing suddenly get more concern placed on them? I also can't really see that sort of policy/law going down very well, people would probably say it's an overreaction

It's pretty clear that whatever system was in place to stop him buying a gun after he flagged himself as a concern somehow failed

not like they would take it very serious. probably just 5150 him and then when he gets out he's just worse off then he was before.

Part of the system (righteous or not) was directly circumvented by his parent signing off on him buying a gun legally via FOID in Illinois (in addition to the more understandable refusal to press charges based on the threats). He could not have done so otherwise (legally).

That is the problematic part too, hopefully some changes do follow

Though I feel that we also tend to underestimate how much shit some parents are going to put up with and the amount of free passes they're gonna give their kids. I remember I watched some documentary, maybe it was a segment of an overall larger one, where a kid had tried to kill his parents and despite there being cameras all over the inside of the house (suggesting that they were concerned about this kid) the parents still insisted that their little angel, now in prison, didn't try to kill them at all

It's not like you can really put controls on this stuff

And no one but scaremongering politicians and media people has ever called them that.

Ghost guns are also legal as long as you are otherwise allowed to possess a gun legally and don’t try to sell it to anyone.
Anti gun spergs want to get an act of Congress or Supreme Court ruling to declare that selling 3d printed plans for the gun is the same as selling the gun.

They can go fuck themselves.

Especially because that will usher in a new era of intellectual property and digital rights sperging for stuff that has nothing to do with guns, like cars and tools.

Sorry for the side track, but what was this service for? If a serial number is legitimately worn (however rare) do you restamp a firearm with the same serial?

I have some cans/receivers with some really shallow engraving and was curious what the remedy would be if they ever got obscured.
The magnetic particle process was done in a forensic setting. As soon as you turn the juice off, the serial number disappears.

In your case the answer would be to have the serial number stamped in a second place on the serial numbered part.

However, I've been retired for awhile now, so that may have changed.
