Libertadores shocker: River Plate are out, losing to Velez Sarsfield. Very chippy game towards the end after River had a goal nullified by a controversial hand ball.
Looks like River Plate are going to have a rebuild. Alvarez is out and they also lost Jorge Carrascal recently too. They aren't getting rid on Muneco though since he is way too valuable to lose

I watched the game of River yesterday. The VAR decision was awful. I couldn't believe it.

River paid the price of doing a terrible first match in Velez stadium (a clear victory for Velez). River deserved a goal yesteday for the game they played, but we all know that deserving isn't enough: you gotta do it.
Boca and River out of the Libertadores in the same week. A shocker indeed. Let's see if Velez or Talleres (or Estudiantes if they win today) can keep it going for Argentina.

Kinda boring game from Corinthians the other day against Boca, but i will not put down their strategy: it paid off and results speak, not intentions. Well played game in Boca stadium. They won that 0-0 in Argentina (and you gotta EARN a 0-0 in Boca stadium) and got lucky in the penalties. Good for them.

Leeds fans want to sell my favorite player, Jack Harrison, if Raphinha stays. “WE NEED MONEY!!”, they autistically screech. Well maybe you should have gotten on board with dumping the whole board instead of keeping this cheap Italian idiot in charge who can’t even pay his employees at his “entertainment company.” He’s only spent about 38 million of his own cash with the rest being player sales. we’re going to be in a relegation fight again and anyone who thinks different is dumb.

Any update you brits have on the Thomas Partey rape thing? Read an article yesterday he changed his name to Yakubu but will still be referred to as Thomas while playing for Arsenal. Also, why does Britain hide the name of people charged with such heinous crimes?

Can't wait to watch Eriksen and Bruno Fernandez in the same starting line up. That will fix their midfield problems
Just imagine you still had Mata and somehow keep Ronaldo. You'd have a peak FIFA 2016 Ultimate Team midfield right there. However it's 2022.

Legit don't blame the guy. He was considering staying for the family and playtime perks, but United has apparently offered 4x the wages Brentford was willing.

Oh man, I am not blaming Eriksen at all. Take United for all they have got. Its just hilarious how United still can't figure anything out right now. Ronaldo wants out for good reason (doesn't want to be a part of a rebuild knowing his body is going to give out on him over the next few years), Pogba left for free, and other deadwood is still around. Club doesn't know how to properly handle a lot of issues and seems to be throwing a lot of money around

In other news, Apparently you can bribe your way out of corruption charges. Thanks a lot Switzerland. Should have just bombed the shit out of them for this ruling alone

It definitely is hilarious. But I think United was in a decent position before Ronaldo arrived. Greenwood was showing signs of developing into an elite CF. Then he had to move out wide to accommodate Ronaldo, then he raped his gf and got kicked from the squad.

I think Rashford-Bruno-Sancho playing behind Greenwood had potential to develop into a solid attacking unit. Or maybe one big signing away from it, if you remove Rashford and throw in a winger like Antony. But of course this is a moot point since Greenwood's career seems to be over.

The best thing about the United situation is how it's not actually a massive problem if they're willing to take a few years of midtable mediocrity while deadwood contracts run out, but they're absolutely terrified of losing CL revenue so they'll spunk stupid money on players that don't even fit the system every year and then get confused when nobody wants to buy said players when United inevitably try to offload them.

The only situation funnier is Barcelona. I fully expect them to try and force Adebayor out of the club in January.

Romagnoli to Lazio on a free. The fuck? That's got to be one of the more random bits of transfer news to come out this summer. It didn't look like there were too many clubs in for him either. Is he injury prone? Contract demands too high?

That would be what, 3 Center Forward signings since Messi left that have failed? Depay, Aguero, and now Aubameyang (who I assume you meant). They have such a good squad elsewhere and need to focus on fixing their aging defense but nah, just throw money at center forwards

It is kind of strange more PL clubs weren't interested, from what I'm reading only Villa and Fulham were trying to sign him. His last 2 seasons have been a little injury plagued but nothing major and he's definitely a solid player. He was making 6 million a season at Milan and they offered him 2.8 to renew. He wound up going to Lazio for around 3. That being said, Lazio is his boyhood club and Italian players generally like to stay in Serie A so even if bigger clubs in England were after him, he probably would've gone to Lazio anyway.
