Web Animation - Amazing, Cringe-worthy, Whatever

Steve Dorian (LemonyFresh) passed away last month. Nobody is saying what caused it but some were expressing how sudden it was. I think the guy could've gone far had things been different but what we got was pretty good. RIP dude.

While searching for his videos, some of his last projects were with some youtuber named MessYourself. He made a memorial video for Steve. Here's the first one he did for him last year.

There is this Arabic web show called Yarob.
In short, It's about a counter sorcerer that deals with shenanigans dealing with Middle-eastern mythology. I haven't seen all 8 episodes that are currently out, but the series kinda grew on me after the couple first episodes. Although I have some issues with it too.

In some episodes are more elaborate with telling the tail of the week than others, but they usually provide enough information for it to be clear narrative wise. They also try to change up their art style when changing locations, which is really neat.
I like the MC and the series' dry sense of humor, but it falls flat at establishing dramatic moments. Lot's of exposition get's dumped at the end instead of being implemented into the story as needed. It's a shame because it looks like it want's to have a overarching plot like it's popular these days.

A few hours ago I learned that FilmCow recently made a "The Grand Finale" for the Charlie the unicorn series that started in 2008 and with this previous last part being made in 2013. (for anyone who isn't informed)

There isn't too much I can say about it other then that it was pretty shitty which is made even worse with how well he ended "Llamas with hats" back in 2015, most of the video is dedicated to these two handicapped animal mascots, one being a really gay weasel or something and other one being a absolutely atrocious wizard bat thing.

The random old humor is there still but it's also interjected with this lore filled storyline that really muddles what was originally meant to just be some random access video series about unicorns.

Anyways to wrap this up I want to purpose a question, was FilmCow always a cringey fag and I'm just purely nostalgic for his old work or has he stare too long into the void of gay jokes that he has become gay himself?

Idk I just feel like there's a difference between then and now when comes to that, it might just be the obvious furry ocs that make them feel different though.

Either way, the finale was disappointing and unnecessary to say the least.

I used to watch something called "Claveman" on Newgrounds back in the day. IMO first 3 episodes were funny, then it got kinda lame at the end, like the author had no idea what the fuck to do and was just making shit up on the fly.

I thought the art style of the couple of vids posted here looked familiar, and it turns out its the same guy who animated one of my personal favorites.

Hot damn.
I came into this thread to post exactly this! Genuinely one of the best peices of web animation I've ever seen. Those fights are crisp as fuck, I love the differences in Goku and Vegeta's fighting styles, and Goku's Sun Wukong-inspired transformation was kickass and such an awesome shout out to the myth that was his character inspiration.

My wife and I have recently been binge watching all of those shitty feral furry animations you can find on youtube. They're all some weird bastardization of Warrior Cats and Lion King, usually with healthy helpings of EXTRA EDGE and bad mic quality. It's kind of funny and endearing at the same time in a sick and autistic way, but what fascinates me is that they all almost follow the exact same formula. Open with creation myth to establish setting, open with inciting incident of cute parents voiced by people doing a really bad 'deep' 'adult' voice, then the parents are murdered, chosen one child begins adventure, lots of ill fitting gore and violence.

This one’s a bit of a trucker recommendation as it’s a series of Twitter posts, but it’s definitely worth checking out.

This probably falls in the cringe category but one of the very first web animations I followed a was a newgrounds fan series called Zelda UO.
It didn't really age well and I have no clue why 10-11 year liked it, probably had something to do with being in to game abridge series of zelda games because the only console I had was a hand me down n64 with ocarina of time. But an interesting thing I found out recently is the guy who made it is trying to reboot/remake it and the artstyle/animation feels off...
I'll give him credit for not just doing the calarts shit, but I still wouldn't call this good compared to some recent web animations. If I had to describe it is if someone never really improved past the "how to draw anime books" art style and basic flash animation from the mid to late 00s but at least learned some basic aftereffects.

You can't post something so funny that without giving some examples, c'mon man.
