Just wondering, how many of these shooters had only one parent or a deadbeat father? How much does that contribute to these people's mindsets?

Also I wonder how much of the mental degradation came from lockdowns. They seem more mentally unhinged than ones from before the pandemic, which is saying something.

tbh most of these shooters seem to have a relatively unremarkable upbringing, although your standard ingredients of a serial killer origin story like making your son wear a dress and exposing him to weird porn and gore are pretty average experiences now. I think what we're really looking at here is the inevitable aftereffects of normalizing anime consumption.

He even has a sweet Backrooms horror snippet.

Honestly not bad for 30 seconds.

Overall pretty unimportant but imo still worth pointing out that the Backrooms clips isn't his, he simply stole it from one of the bigger Backrooms channels.
The clip from his deleted Youtube channel, uploaded April 23rd:

The original, published April 11th by A-Sync Research:

Single parent households are obviously detrimental to children and society. But why is there so much more smoke for the mothers than the uninvolved or deadbeat fathers? Both genders are failing their kids.

It’s not 1990, courts are less biased against fathers than in the past. If an unmarried father wants a relationship with his child, he can petition the court for visitation. Even men who don’t pay child support are allowed by the court to spend time with their kids.

Lack of male role models has been catastrophic for society and sperm doner type fathers aren’t innocent bystanders.

The argument tends to be either:
  1. Women are the sole decider of whether or not a kid is created at all, so the outcome is more on them than men
  2. Women can abort (well, mostly now lol) and men cannot, so with shitty mothers feasibly have/had the option to still just not be shitty mothers
  3. Sperm donor deadbeat dads can only have children if women agree to sleep with them in the first place, so it's the single mother's fault for actively selecting deadbeats as sexual partners
Personally I think shitty dads do need to shoulder some of the blame, too.

Relevant idiocy portions:

"The uncle of confessed Highland Park mass shooter Robert Crimo III insisted Friday that his brother “did the right thing” when he helped his son buy guns — while conceding that he would not have done so himself. “I support him 100% — I think he did the right thing,” Paul Crimo told CNN of his brother, the gunman’s dad, Robert Crimo Jr.

The uncle admitted that he was “sure” that his brother “knew about” his son having been investigated for threatening to “kill everyone” in 2019, just two months before he backed the shooter’s successful bid to start buying guns while he was still just 19..."

In his interview, uncle Crimo dismissed the warning signs over his nephew, who shared disturbing videos and artwork of guns and shootings... "People recover quickly … maybe he recovered quickly and he was in his right mind frame at that time,” he said of his nephew and the 2019 threats...

“I think the law’s gotta be tightened up,” he said. Despite his “100%” support for his brother and complete denial of any concerns for his nephew owning guns, Crimo repeatedly blamed Illinois’ laws for the future shooter’s gun-buying spree.

“If somebody has a life threat, if somebody’s suicidal or if somebody’s under depression … the state should see that and not give the person a FOID card,” he said of concerns he justified his brother ignoring...

He noted how his nephew “passed four background checks,” calling it proof he “seemed fit” to be a gun owner. “If he had seemed unfit then he would never have gotten the FOID card,” he said, repeating that “the laws need to be tougher.”

What law did he break? Am I missing something?
From the article, the police director said this:
'There's probably going to be civil litigation,' said Brendan Kelly, state police director. 'There is ongoing criminal prosecution and criminal investigation.
'Issues of culpability, liability, who may have responsibility in certain circumstances, are all part and parcel of that process.'
This is immediately followed by
He would not confirm whether Bob Crimo would be criminally charged.
So the director made a very broad statement the only specific of which is that civil liability is likely because Bob signed the unconstitutional FOID sponsorship form accepting liability (civil) for actions taken by a different adult with weapons purchased by that adult.

So the charitable take is "there isn't a law and this is puffery to make it sound like they can criminally charge Bob".

The uncharitable and frankly more likely take is there isn't a law, but this is IL, so they'll find one that when twisted around might kinda look like it applies (it won't), and hope that they can survive a motion to dismiss and get Bob in front of a Jury.

If we learned anything from Kim Potter, you don't have to actually commit a crime according to the letter of the law, you just need 4 dishonest states attorneys to repeatedly mis-state the law and hope the jury doesn't care enough to actually turn their brains on, and thus will agree with them.

So, remember how a few days ago people were wondering why Crimo's mom had a censor blur box on her chest when she was clearly wearing a shirt? Well, apparently this is why: https://www.arlingtoncardinal.com/2...her-home-after-highland-park-parade-shooting/

When SWAT showed up to search the premises she apparently decided that it was pertinent to show them her tits for... reasons that are beyond my understanding. Anyway, they probably thought she might do it again so they decided to go with a censor box. Either that or her tit was still hanging out while she continued to yell at them.

At one point she gestured in a sort of mime action that she was pulling down her revealing spaghetti strap top, and then her pants. Then she walked back toward her home, and when she walked past two personnel assigned to SWAT, she pulled down her top to expose her right breast. Both tactical personnel averted, turning their eyes and bodies away from the view of her body as she walked past them.
Wow. Alrighty then.

yes, it all depends on the feeling of the public.
The father should not be responsible for his kid for helping his son get a gun for "insert reason here".
At most are some insurance gripes due to cosigning.

If I was being a snarky piece of shit and accepted the premise that people "helping" him get the gun = baaaaaaad, him being a grown ass adult at this point, I might suggest the state if Illinois "helped" him get the gun more than his dad did by allowing him to pass those checks, despite them knowing just as well if not better than any other party about the endless list of law enforcement encounters that are supposed to start being an issue, you know, since these psychos MAKE the laws that specifically added extra checks, at least in theory, to stop this exact purchase from happening.

Quoth that POS Gifford's website:
Illinois law similarly requires the Illinois State Police to conduct background checks using these same databases when determining whether to approve a person’s application for a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card. (See the Licensing in Illinois and Universal Background Checks in Illinois pages for more information about this process). Legislation enacted in 2021 also expressly requires the State Police to continuously monitor relevant state and federal databases as allowed by state and federal law for “firearms prohibitors,” such as criminal history and court records that would prohibit a person from possessing a firearm legally, and to “correlate those records” with FOID Card holders to ensure that people issued FOID Cards remain eligible to possess firearms and retain their FOID.6
So for clarity, not only does IL do a check on you for the unconstitutional FOID card, they monitor your ass forever federally and locally just to make sure you don't magically become a prohibited person and if they do I'd bet dollars to donuts they're supposed to knock your door down at 3AM to disarm you.

That's certainly how it worked in California by the time I got the hell out. So what went wrong here? 🤔
