What happened here

Some thoughts:
- 3d printing of firearms has a small following in Japan and there have been arrests, so expect reaction on those fronts even if it is not techincally '3d printed'
- the last time there was a significant political assassination in Japan was over half a century ago and was done with a sword
- my first thought was "ultranationalist" and then I thought he didn't look the type; having been in the military a while back could actually go either way
- an ultranationalist you might think would have more in common with Abe and not want him gone but disappointment leading to feelings of betrayal are powerful; think of Yitzhak Rabin
- the (Maoist?) Japanese Red Army were unpleasant characters back in the 70s, I wonder what has become of them and their ideological descendants
- I wouldn't rule out the cultists
- worst possible timeline: anything that remotely implicates a Chinaman.

I wonder, why him though? Guy was retired already, maybe because he's too big of a political figure in japan? Maybe because he was so unprotected it looked like an easy blow? Maybe because of the ideals and stuff he preached that made the shooter seethe? Maybe all at the same time, please tell me i'm not the only one who thinks he looked so unprotected.

Then again from what ive heard the nu yakuza is pretty idiotic in general, all the smart ones either retired or went legit back during the crackdowns
Yakuza are so damn regulated in japan that they pretty much can't do anything nowadays, if they gather in groups of more than 4 that's enough to jail them. Hangure are the real deal now.

>be japan
>not a single gun in the country
>someone makes a gun in a shed and kills prime minister

>be usa
>like 3x more guns than people
>brandon lives

Hitler was right in his diagnosis that the japanese are aryans and americans are niggers
The drawback to everyone having guns in the US means security details are much harder to get around.

Why would they kill him on the spot? It's not like he was about to commit a mass shooting with that thing. Is it not more advantageous to arrest and interrogate to find out if he is part of an organised ring?
I would imagine the security detail for a former prime minister is not near that of the USSS or even UK police.

Even if the security detail is allowed to be armed, firing a gun in self defense even if it's by law enforcement is strongly discouraged.

Legit training on how Japanese cops are supposed to deal with person armed with knives initially.

I always laugh when I watch Nippon police rolling up drunks in the arrest burrito.

I think Hitler's insistence that it is impossible to truly stop an assassin no matter how much security you throw at the problem might be a more relevant Hilter-was-right-ism in this case. 😉
After what happened to Abe they're probably getting some ideas to do it now.
There were attempts on Trump, but as far as I remember those who tried were incredibly inept so they failed quite early in execution. The one case I remember was someone who decided that trying to steal a gun from an armed officer's holster on site was the best path forward to acquiring a weapon. That went about as well as you might think when he couldn't get the gun out of the holster.
