Shinzo Abe Assassination

Who did it?

My question is to Motive. Why killed Abe, who resigned from PM and the Party in 2020, who held no power, had rectal ulsors and was essentially in public to spruik a candidate. Why assassinate an aging politician after they left office?
According to a japanese article I read Abe was only confirmed to appear about a week prior. I don't know if it was assumed that Abe would attend but considering the assassin was a resident of Nara and he probably had the gun before then he may have just been looking to shoot someone at the event and chose Abe because he was the most high-profile. Or maybe he just wanted to shoot someone and the opportunity presented itself. Who knows.

Wouldn't surprise me, a far few assassinations actually turn out to be more or less this without an actual motive besides "Wanted to kill someone that day and went for the most high profile person."

Also expecting his death to be made official within the next hour.

Apart from the distinctly low key armament of the security here, just look at the shooter here. I initially thought this was a sling but no it is just the bag where I guess he got his weapon from, he is tossing it to the ground but has a remarkably neutral expression on his face and looks pretty relaxed in this moment. His clothes are clean as is he, he doesn't look really crazy nor certainly physically imposing, he's someone you wouldn't think twice passing on the street. Of some of these things are hard to read across cultures, but I found it striking in this image in particular.

This is the shooter being tackled, I so se anything in his hands so I'm going to assume that box thing at his feet is the weapon. Is this some kind of slam shotgun?
"hehe i will just ride my bike :)"

also there's this anime that really focus on guns and men being killed, and nips are discussing if it should air or not lol

a politician died on the first episode

they take this really seriously for example when kyoani was burned to the ground one anime in particular stopped being broadcasted for a while because its main theme was "fire "

Was that ban just as ridiculous, or worse/not as bad, as when Beavis and Butthead retconned Beavis being a pyromaniac?

His mask isn't covering his nose, he needs to face death penalty.
