Honestly, considering the barrels are pipes on a plank with gaffer tape (or whatever it is) and the most complicated part of the weapon is the trigger and ignition system? While I could see it happening, I think they were just prototypes to see what worked or felt the best (The Yakuza can buy proper guns instead of having to get some weirdo to make zip guns on his hobby table).
