All of the hardware store gun control sperging is silly. That's going to require regular gun control first which still won't pass just because some other country (who already had the gun control) got their ex-PM assassinated.

White House: President Biden to sign order on abortion access

President Joe Biden will take executive action Friday to protect access to abortion, the White House said, as he faces mounting pressure from fellow Democrats to be more forceful on the subject after the Supreme Court ended a constitutional right to the procedure two weeks ago.

The White House said Biden will speak Friday morning “on protecting access to reproductive health care services.” The actions he was expected to outline are intended to try to mitigate some potential penalties women seeking abortion may face after the ruling but are limited in their ability to safeguard access to abortion nationwide.

Biden is expected to formalize instructions to the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services to push back on efforts to limit the ability of women to access federally approved abortion medication or to travel across state lines to access clinical abortion services.

Biden’s executive order will also direct agencies to work to educate medical providers and insurers about how and when they are required to share privileged patient information with authorities - an effort to protect women who seek or utilize abortion services. He will also ask the Federal Trade Commission to take steps to protect the privacy of those seeking information about reproductive care online and establish an interagency task force to coordinate federal efforts to safeguard access to abortion.

The White House said it will also convene volunteer lawyers to provide women and providers with pro bono legal assistance to help them navigate new state restrictions after the Supreme Court ruling.

The order, after the high court’s June 24 ruling that ended the nationwide right to abortion and left it to states to determine whether or how to allow the procedure, comes as Biden has faced criticism from some in his own party for not acting with more urgency to protect women’s access to abortion. The decision in the case known as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned the court’s landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling.

Since the decision, Biden has stressed that his ability to protect abortion rights by executive action is limited without congressional action.

“Ultimately, Congress is going to have to act to codify Roe into federal law,” Biden said last week during a virtual meeting with Democratic governors.

The tasking to the Justice Department and HHS is expected to push the agencies to fight in court to protect women, but it conveys no guarantees that the judicial system will take their side against potential prosecution by states that have moved to outlaw abortion.

“President Biden has made clear that the only way to secure a woman’s right to choose is for Congress to restore the protections of Roe as federal law,” the White House said. “Until then, he has committed to doing everything in his power to defend reproductive rights and protect access to safe and legal abortion.”

Your beliefs are understandable, but let me fill you in on something.

Politicians, even most of the 'pro-gun' ones, have -no idea- how guns work or how easy they are to manufacture. I have had multiple politicians tell me, to my face, that it is impossible for a gun to be made without sophisticated manufacturing and that therefore it is impossible for regular people to make guns. They legitimately, honestly believe this.

And now one of theirs, sure across an ocean but one of theirs, just got killed by a fucking pipegun. And while these people are evil and ignorant they are not stupid. They now get to consider, really consider, that getting guns and killing them wouldn't be as hard as they thought it would be.

Edit: or at least, try their best to make it hard. Which, given their recent attempts at "trying their best", I think we can rest assured they'll get jack shit accomplished.

Pretty sure the states already have the ability to prosecute drug offenses involving the mail that the Fed doesn't go after, it's just more difficult for them but there are states which have enacted laws against drug analogues which were banned state level but not federally, and they were able to prosecute charges.
Iirc opening USPS mail requires a warrant but not a federal one since drug charges are often prosecuted at local level so it's often local judges signing off on the warrant. If the states ban the abortion drugs and then local judges authorize warrants for inspection of suspected packages containing those drugs, they can prosecute charges at state level.

The Biden admin is putting itself in yet another dumb position to do more harm. Knowing them if this comes up he'll decide to do something like require federal warrants to open mail which would allow a lot more shady shit to end up making it through the mail system than fake weed and abortion pills.

Calling him "Honest Shinzo" would be the least terrible thing I could think of and would actually be positively received... which is why we're not going to get that. We're more likely to get "Shitzo Abe" or "Schitzo Abe" or even "Shi-Tzu Abe" given his mental state.

I want the federal government to strike down laws prohibiting crossing state lines to get an abortion. That way there's precedent to strike down any COVID passports they're going to try to implement this fall/winter.

EDIT: I actually had to look up what happened to Hirohito. Cancer of the duodenum, RiP. Died after several months of internal bleeding. Talk about a really fucked-up way to go.

Any theories on what they could be pumping him up with? If by some miracle of God he survives to 2024, he will be a legit fucking vegetable to the point where juicing him up gets you a few minutes of highly slurred words followed by a sudden off switch turn off and then days of sessile unresponsiveness. How the hell do they expect him to go against Trump in a debate by then?
