Nobodies given a strong impression that it's anything all that deep and it seems like everyone involved is treating it generally amicably Kson expressed some frustration over keeping up appearances (to whom, it was unclear) which is natural, having to live and hide your friendship with someone I'm sure was annoying and frustrating. Kanata expressed some anxiety about moving, which is natural, moving fucking sucks. but thats....... really all we know, it just seems like a bummer situation that 2 adults went through and parted ways on amicable terms. Life is sometimes like that.

Truth be told the wave of rrats was set in stone the moment that tweet about an emergency meeting was put up. From that moment onward people started constructing the narrative they wanted, and we could nitpick back and forth about "this made it worse" and "this didn't" but really, the ball was already in motion, people would twist anything said or not said to suit their desired rrat well before Kson said anything today. the rrats always find a way. I'm just more inclined to call the people making retarded claims retards, than armchair quarterback someone elses public relations when I probably have less than 10% the information that they do that matters to a situation.

Man, I've membered to Kson, but even I know the limits of reason. If she joins Vshojo, sure. If she runs it as an indie company as she does? sure. Kinda meh on most of them (Black Out is ok), but Diamond City Lights is like an amalgamation of cheesiness, catchiness, and a lot of high energy that I just can't help but like it.

They also bring up their debut songs a lot, so they get put into ether far more than most Holos with do theirs

I think there are a few factors. One would simply be that trends tend to build on themselves. NijiEN members giving praise for covers of their debut songs early on encourage more people to make covers. Another would be that they are relatively high-profile songs within the EN vtubing community that are unique to said community, which differentiates them from covers of JP songs.

Most of the debut songs are also relatively easy to sing by virtue of having fairly simple, predominantly English lyrics. Diamond City Lights is notoriously difficult to sing solo, but not so bad when split up amongst three people. They're group songs, which lets indies/smaller corpos sing them with their friends or colleagues. The fact that they are group songs combined with NijiEN members liking covers probably helps the songs feel less strongly associated with a specific vtuber. Like, a decently prominent indie or small corpo might feel strange making a cover of Sparks because that's very much "Kiara's song," while the NijiEN group songs are a bit more communal.

I feel like that has happened quite a bit recently, the last few major/minor incidents have sprung from what should have been nothing, or from something that seemed reasonably unlikely.
