To be fair, Cover has only had like one or two solid years of dominance over Niji. They lost the male vtuber game to Niji in both the JP and EN markets. Myth is calling attention to their managerial incompetence and Council has been kind of a failure except for the rat. They know how precarious their position in the market is, how fickle tastes are, and how quickly it can all go to shit.

An upstart, technologically savvy agency from America is the sort of black ships scenario that makes Japanese execs shit themselves and I'm not surprised they're in all-hands-on-deck mode after said agency poached two of their former talents (said talents being among the highest earners in the company) specifically to compete head-on with them in their home market.

still, for all it's fault hololive as a brand is simply huge as fuck and established, even in the west. this won't change anytime soon.

as for the upstart, technologically savvy agency from america - sure, but again, we're talking about vshojo here. to be actual competition that upstart agency would have to become a corp, with everything that entails. for starters, the content vshojo produces simply will be poison to certain advertisers and sponsorships, so to get those they'd need to change their content. if they change their content, what makes them different than the rest of the market? why should people start watching them now, and how will their existing audience react? rebranding is never easy, especially not with an audience invested like this.
making fun of the whole "seiso" thing is easy, but it's also the most compatible and inoffensive type of content, which means you'll have a bigger chance of getting that juicy sponsorship and collab deal money.
they'd also need to get actually professional for once, which also would affect the talent, and again their content. as much as pippa & co bitch about management, there's a reason management behaves the way it does and veto's certain content. I can literally guarantee you there are companies who won't work with vshojo, either due to their content, past behavior or simply size. ffs even phase connect has that issue, and they run a much more professional and "cleaner" shop than vshojo ever could.
maybe in some timeline they'll make it on their own just like that and manages to rival cover globally, but anywhere else vshojo will stop growing at some point because they are vshojo, or stop being vshojo.

besides, the poopoo-peepee market is already cornered in japan, and even if they manage to poach all of them, it will still be the same content people did or didn't watch before. there's a reason cover/niji are as big as they are, and that market isn't. they might be able to run wildly different versions in each region, but that will generate it's own issues (what if the JP branch suddenly overshadows the OGs? you expect them to be professional enough to handle that?) which will impede or kill success.

You are bringing "new" talent into the mix. While Vtubing is saturated, the new people Vshojo will bring in are big enough that they will directly impact the number of viewers that normally watch Hololive streams. Rushia and Coco's viewers spread out to the adjacent Hololive streamers so any big negative impact the company might have suffered was mostly redirected to the other talents on that timeslot. This is the potential to pull those people back out and away from Hololive.

Also there is the threat that some of the girls that have expressed concerns about management can get poached by a more attractive profit sharing model and less intrusive management. Not everyone at Hololive was picked to be an Idol. Im sure most of the earlier girls were but Gen 3, 4, 5 and 6 have people in it that don't really work well as idols.

people who didn't watch kson before won't suddenly watch her as kson under vshojo, unless you believe she suddenly turns into the coco version of vshojo, which she won't and can't. her audience is pretty much locked in, no nip who's not already watching her is suddenly going to just because she's under some gaijin agency thus "stealing views from hololive". mikoneko has a bigger chance to attract a "new" audience, but again you have to look at who that audience actually is, and being who she is also means people won't watch her for that reason alone. fandeads were watching her for the GFE, which is even uncommon among hololive, and again no one who hasn't already moved on/stayed won't suddenly do it now just because rushia re-debuted again under a literally who agency (while completely missing mikoneko exists).

regarding getting poached, a) that "risk" ALWAYS exists, your talent will always hear how much better something somewhere else is and b) vshojo won't suddenly be the reason some holos, who are well aware how much of a golden ticket winner they are, decide to jump ship. it's not even an idol thing, but a brand thing, not to mention resources vshojo simply doesn't have (and most likely never will). you expect watame to make it into budokan under vshojo (on her own, not getting carried by someone like kizuna ai)?
this is the same dumb discussion that came up when coco graduated - sure, she got more freedom, but at what price? and if being an indie is so fucking great, why did she sign up with vshojo? money is nice (and at a certain point moot), but it's not everything.

The sanalites also flexed their creativity by sending a birthday card into the upper boundry of the atmosphere. At the very least the Vshojo fans could project Melody onto the red light district of Amsterdam or something, stick with the theme or maybe ask someone like pornhub if you can pay for a Melody logo/link for a day like google does with its shitty drawings.
