I don't know what's worse, having a business degree and having to announce bankruptcy or having a finance degree and being unable to manage your finances.

I know this isn't intuitive but finance degree work is more pertaining to banking and finance ala investments. For managing your personal finances or the incoming/outgoing money and assets of your business, that's accountancy. Which is more interesting because generic business management degrees like his often require accountancy classes for basic bookkeeping purposes that are important unless you do a specialty like one in finance. This replaces some of the core classes with others and people often choose to do so to dodge harder classes. This isn't a surprise with DSP because he had already been comp sci filtered and went into the business degree program. Also I've often thought that he never completed his degree program and just bought one online. For all the things he has stories about he has none surrounding his graduation, as if he avoids thinking about it.

This stream is making it more than obvious that Phil doesn’t read anything, and isn’t curious about ANYTHING WHATSOEVER AT ALL. Some of these stories are pretty well-known, and he hasn’t been familiar with any one of them, except the Brandon Lee story. How can someone be that disinterested in literally everything?
