Is she powerless? The 25th rests in her hands doesn't it? All she would need is a "majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress" to do it. If she gets that majority what are "they" going to do?

Deny her?
Yes

Section 4(of the 25th Amendment).

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

So yeah, Kamala need most of the Cabinet to sign on to her 25thing Biden, then 2/3rds of the House and Congress to carrying it out. She is powerless.

Biden is only leaving through Death or Resignation(or not running/losing 2024 if you like really long odds). If Kamala tried to power play, the Cabinet would shut her down from even starting it. 25th is the worst way for the Democrats to replace Biden, it'll look horrible on them for having backed him as a candidate. It is purposefully designed to be almost impossible to do, it is extremely unlikely that there is a circumstance that a President gets to the point that 25thing them has any chance of success and that President doesn't resign. Even after January 6th, and with all the knives out against Trump by Republicans that helped rig the election, 25th was just a Democrat fantasy.

She might as well be powerless, trying to play the 25th right now would just be a publicly entertaining form of suicide.
If I was as petty and vindictive as Kamala and I wanted to fuck Jill or "them" over this seems like the best way to do it. Although a simple resignation would probably be easier. Thing is, would "they" accept her resignation?

You generally need to already be in a position of power to really act on that sort of Vindictive behavior. She doesn't really have the power to do anything of significance, just create some amusing news stories for a few weeks. And in return for that, she'll be functionally unpersoned from politics, burn every bridge she's ever sucked, and be completely powerless as she's buried by the machine.

This has some overlap with the Ukraine threads, but The Brookings Institution did an interesting poll in late June about the public's attitude on the Ukraine war and I think it's worth posting here because it mainly asked what respondents are willing to endure to support Ukraine and what they want Biden to do.

63% of respondents consider themselves willing to let energy prices increase "A lot" or "Somewhat". They are a little less enthustiastic about inflation but 58% say they could tolerate inflation increasing by "A lot" or "Somewhat". The public is not very willing to see U.S. troops die to support Ukraine but the number who answered "Somewhat" or "Not much" is honestly bigger than I would've expected (46%).

As for what the U.S. should do if the war continues: supplying Ukraine with military equipment, enforcing a no-fly zone over Ukraine, and continuing to impose sanctions on Russia are all very popular ideas among all political groups. Working towards a diplomatic solution is also very popular but I think most people who pay regular attention to Ukraine news know a diplomatic solution won't happen. Wanting to do nothing is a very fringe view and a majority doesn't want NATO troops to be sent into Ukraine.

Lastly, the respondents can't really make up their mind on whether either side of the war is losing or winning. Only 9% of respondents think NATO is performing well compared to 28% who think it's not doing good.

In comparison to a previous poll taken in May, there seems to have been a slight increase in the % of people who said they're willing to take the hit so to say. It seems like there's a 'floor' or sorts (couldn't think of a better term) at 60% of respondents who consider themselves supportive of Ukraine regardless or whether their pocketbook takes a hit or not, even as the reporting and news coverage turned negative in June. It's probably safe to say that most Americans are satisfied about how Joe has handled the war thus far but thankfully Americans are not single-issue war voters.

Who the fuck are these people and where the fuck are they getting all this money that they are just okay with their wallets and bank accounts getting raped because of inflation?

I have seen several reiterations of this image on twitter. As much I disdain and loathe Biden and.his family of crooks, I am highly skeptical that these pictures are authentic. These cannot be real, can they?

Mass formation psychosis. They know nothing about Ukraine, or the underlying causes of the Ukranian conflict. They know nothing about the history of Nato expansion agiant Russia's express and repeated objections. They know nothing about the demographics of Eastern Ukraine or the escalation of violent skirmishes that have gone on since at least 2014. They cannot be bothered to watch an hour presentation by Mearsheimer on why all of this is absolutely foolhardy. It is just the current thing, and that's the way they roll.

Or the poll is cooked as they pretty much all are to show a skewed perspective for the purpose of justifying a false consensus.

Which isn't new, abnormal, or even unexpected at this point.

Trump is speaking in Las Vegas tonight at 8pm ET, and will be in Alaska tomorrow. I expect some talk about Abe and the WI ballot boxes along with shitting on President Ron Burgundy.

I'm here in Vegas for the weekend staying at Trump International and missed it last night when he came on property. :'(fuck me, should have checked the damn farms.

Eta: he was here this morning apparently. A couple from Delaware showed me pics in the elevator. Said no one in Delaware likes Biden. The lobby was packed. Damn. *sad whimpering*

E - T - Fucking A: I can say I slept with Trump under the same roof at his hotel suck it

Kamala won't 25th Biden out even if it becomes abundantly clear that he is an actual potato and his decline causes us serious loss of standing on the world stage, because she is a cowardly impotent politician whose self-preservation instincts are telling her "do not be in a position to take any blame regarding this administration whatsoever". I wouldn't be surprised if she thinks she will skate through this presidency and then run on "oh but I didn't do any of those bad things, that was the president" just the same way Biden ran on "all Obama's good ideas were mine and his bad ideas were, well, he's black"

Because that would mean answering/fixing the problem.
Most solutions i see involves trying to turn America into the UK. "Yeah but ither countries mass tragedies don't count as massacres because they weren't shootijgs." My favorite is how they feel the need to bring up numbers of shootings when people point out gun control not working in America.

I’m surprised Biden’s homestate isn’t pulling through for him? So at this point it seems the only ones who like him are bughive dwellers, minorities who vote the way the “kind” man on CNN and MSNBC tells them to,and white rich liberals behind gated communities?

I get the first two groups are idiots. But what do the white rich libs see in biden? I assume they own businesses or stocks. And Biden is doing his hardest to crash the economy.

I need to know whether or not you laughed, how hard, and if you didn't how badly keeping that laugh in hurt because holy shit that'd be a hilarious amount of stupidity if it wasn't someone in government. Literal videogame logic coming from someone who probably hasn't played anything more complicated than candy crush if that.
I just... stared. It was one of the most stupid things I had ever heard. By the time my brain had processed it, I couldn't even respond. To quote a favorite line from one of my favorite books:

"Jackson opened his mouth, twice, but made no sound as he tried to process the -utter stupidity- he'd just been witness to. The problem was, there were so many layers to the stupidity that when he peeled one off to marvel at it, there was another one right under it."
