General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Can't even say I'm a Sanalite; I'm a chumbud first and foremost, then a hooman, then a GloomRys. I only watched and subscribed to Sana because she was the only one who streamed around Gura's timeslot before her back injury, but why do I still feel devastated? To the point where I'm breaking my lurking for only the second time? When I knew out of any one who will graduate from HoloEn, she was the most likely graduate? Reasons I thought that include:

-one of the most out-of-the-norm avatars (up there with Irys)
-a lot of her early streams competed with Gura's time slot (heck, the reason why I watched her was because she would stream sometimes when Gura was off)
- Started streaming less and less often(basically the reverse of Mumei, who started streaming much more after clearing up most of her 'civilization duties')
-and because she started streaming less, she had less opportunities to collab, which is like the main advantage of being a corpo over being an indie apart from brand power
-didn't push her art skills in the beginning, which was her main selling point, so the sub cull during the early days hit her the most as she couldn't recover as much as her genmates did
- marathon streams like the ones she does a lot are less popular on Youtube than on Twitch
-super weird humour, like Neighbula

Still, I enjoyed her streams, as I still hold that she has the best overall gaming skills in comparison to her genmates (only losing to Mumei on FPS games). But considering she was just basically for me a Gura replacement (until Mumei started streaming more often and took over as my back-up watch), and thus being a distant third pick for me to watch streams in that time slot, I still don't understand why I am so distraught when I knew this was coming sooner than later.

Which also begs the question... how hard would I take it when Gura/Mumei/Irys graduates?

I do wonder the timing of the graduation itself is kind of weird, i feel if it was up to Sana she could had prolly waited one more month so she could be there for Council 1 year anniversary, so I wonder if Cover mandated she had to graduate now and couldn't wait any more, or maybe she didn't want to sour the mood of the 1 year anniversary be having to pretend to be happy while everyone knew she would be graduating. Either way Council Anniversary celebration are going to be really awkward now,
Being a contractor, if Sana has to be there for the 1 year anniversary, that logically would mean that her contract was renewed for another year... which obviously is not the case here.

If you will permit me my little rambling on the sana situation:

yes it is very sad that sana is leaving, didn't watch her much though, but more importantly get ready for this to become a regular occurrence. cover has been around long enough and is at the size where they are going to have a steady trickle of people leaving. Happens in all companies.

This I already the case since we have had three in the last year. I don't mean to say that there will be some great exodus and the flood gates are open though. More like, in order to grow a healthy bush you must prune it from time to time. get rid of the dead weight, the diseased limbs. not to say this is all covers fault, each will leave for their own reasons.

Cover will continue to grow with each new generation but we must once again face the fact that one day our oshis leave us. its just a matter of when not if.

In lighter news, the original Watame Wooloo meme was first posted two years ago yesterday.

In these uncertain times, we need Watamelon more than ever.

Wow, I go away for a few hours and come back to the first EN graduation. Damn. I didn't really watch Sana much so I won't spend the time giving an uninformed opinion on the matter.
Also late, but I said at her debut that Shiina reminded me a lot of Ina. It turns out that was intentional on her part. Happy I got that right because Ina is my fav of Holo EN. Shiina is quickly approaching the top of my PC list too. I really like the calmer ones. Which is obviously a direct contrast to my love for the autistic pink fuck.

I get taking *a* break over it but not for a month, especially when she had pretty much just started the job. I've lost a family dog myself, so I get what she was going through, but a month seemed excessive.
"She grieved for a week then spent the rest of the time on her roommate job" Is what vt rrats said at the time that I'm kinda sorta now buying.

I hope they don't try to shoehorn IRyS into council. I fucking hate the L O R E... but it wouldn't make any sense with the theme unless they completely retcon IRyS' backstory.

I can' t believe I just typed this out.

I would love a vtuber who plays SMW romhacks or other older stuff. I miss being 6-7 and watching ProtonJon play Mario's Wacky World on Zsnes. The good days.

"Why is Mori so jealous of Sana?"
I'd be surprised to see any Japanese vTubers play any romhacks, I think it's highly frowned upon in Japan. Korone does play a lot of older stuff.

Huh. That's a shame. Sana was unique. I kind of liked her, but was turned off by her voice overall. It had that slightly weird pitch and tone to it that felt artificial. Definitely one of the best character designs though, real shame it'll never be used again.

Looking briefly at her Twitter and being of an artistic leaning myself, I can safely say she probably makes way more as a drawfag than she does/did at Hololive. I feel like she just decided that with her health issues, it was time to make some hard decisions and simply cut out the part of her life she either didn't have an intense passion for, or which she couldn't deal with given her other problems.

I'm sad, but it could be way worse.
