A study of college students a number of years ago showed that one third of the men said they saw no problem in having sex with a very overly drunk woman. Many of those men also said rape was wrong.

I'm not here to get into a debate on consent or saying all men are bad, but 1/3 thinking it's okay to take advantage of someone who isn't all there at the moment is terrifying for all women to hear. If that many think that's okay, how many think having sex with a disabled woman or girl is okay?

Maybe if the stats on trans women committing sex crimes were more like women's stats then people would feel more comfortable with letting them take care of the vulnerable. Since we know better it's not at all okay.

Can confirm anything related to patients is a minefield and usually (ideally?) handled with care precisely to avoid weird things.

It is sad because when I was younger I was implicitly taught to believe that there was no difference between the sexes and that roles between sexes should be ignored.

As an adult, though, I do understand that there are reasons why this is done. I have known of one teacher that did this to children that were too mentally incompetent to say no or report the molestation to a mandated reporter. I knew of one teacher that “had to leave his job suddenly” due to getting caught and three more male teachers that were openly lecherous. It can get messed up. Obviously all males in care of those “too young” or “too mentally incapacitated” (mental illness, intoxicated, anesthesia, etc) are not like this. But this is why we use stringent standards for both sexes. Even male disabled students generally have male carers, and when they don’t, it is because they are either looking for another guy, or because the family made a choice specifically.

Another point is that a lot of males don’t typically enter these fields due to probably an acknowledgement of the discrimination against them. I’m assuming most wouldn’t join. But there are also probably very few loggers that are women? Or offshore oil tanker employees. Idk.
