Diseased Neo-Pagans / Witches on the Internet / Witchblr - SMT IRL, but with fatties

Nope. As a Pagan I can tell you firsthand it was bongs. Gerald Gardner and his loony UK followers (Raymond Buckland, Doreen Valiente and that whole clique) were who started this horseshit. The Wiccan system is basically a glorified fetish club and we all know the political leanings of most of those types. Throw in a dash of New Age and horoscopes and you can take your circus over to the giant goldmine across the pond.
Agreed. They are just kinky leftists with daddy issues.
Those of us who quietly do the actual pre Christian religion in private cringe harder at this shit than any of you atheists do, believe me. We are perfectly content to be left alone altogether but these jackheads just don't quit giving us a bad name at every turn.
Believe me, I cringe way harder.
I'd rather die alone than resort to some devil magic!
And yet she will probably say "tHoUgHtS aNd PrAyErS dOn'T hElP" nest time there is a school shooting.
What a waste of a decently attractive woman. Not a super model mind you, but nonetheless she doesn't seem to be a landwhale or trans. She should be in the kitchen nursing her 4th kid by now. Sad!

Found a witch in the wild. I don't practice Shinto, but even I know that's... Not how the religion works.

Fuck “closed practices.” Believe what you want and don’t be a dick. How is this so hard for humanity? I once saw someone declare that only gypsies can read tarot. What followed was a snide pile on about who can use the word and the cards. Total ignorance about the origins. The word “sweaty” was used in abundance. OK I’m done.

On the other hand closed practices helps to insulate your religious group from retards like the people involved in that debate.

This is hilarious because 99% of Japanese people don't consider Shinto even a religion, it's just something you do. It's why you can easily find ones that consider themselves "good christians" but still attend Shinto ceremonies, etc. The Japanese do not care if other people participate in the practice, but Reddit sure does.

EDIT: Now Shinto in its "classic" form? That's a different can of worms. But they also hated everyone that wasn't Japanese at the time so that's normal.

Yeah, if we're talking the state Shinto of Imperial Japan then that's really mixed with Japan's national mythos and I'm not surprised that they don't want the dirty gaijin touching it, but even that wasn't really a religion per se.

If you're some weird white Redditor who starts treating Shinto as a religion then the vast majority of Japanese people are going to think you're fucking weird but they're not going to care that much.

The only difference I can see between "open" and "closed" practices is that if it's a white people religion it's open and if it's any other race it's closed. It doesn't even correlate with white colonizers, scandinavian and greek religion are both "open" despite neither of them being known for colonizing other races.

I've never personally met anyone who deems any religion or practices as closed to one specific culture or race. Everyone from different backgrounds have been very opening and welcoming to introducing people to their faith. The only place I've seen it come from tends to be online schitzos
There's jews and some of the odd gnostic cults found in the middle east are pretty exclusive.

The Yazidi for example. The Druze too I believe.
The Amish too, they actively discourage people trying to convert to their religion and lifestyle. Not in a hostile sense, but because they know it's a radically different way of life non-Amish might think sounds good on the face of it but is a lot different actually living it.

In these cases the religion is so intertwined with the ethnicity and culture it's basically impossible for an outsider to really convert and join the religion. Especially for the Druze and Yazidis since they have been so brutally oppressed and discriminated against by Muslims in particular for centuries, they naturally are very careful.

You can convert to Judaism. Even Orthodox Judaism.

The only major religion I've seen that can be cagey about converts is Hinduism since it's not like they know where to put you in the caste system. The sects that allow it typically just make you a Brahmin so...I'm sure there's some enmity there.

Not true. Converts were always Jews, they were just reincarnated into the wrong body and realized it. Thus it is said in Yevamot 47a: "convert who comes to a court in order to convert" i.e. he is already a convert.

Also see Sha’ar Ha-Osios, “Kedushas Hazivug” 402.

Technically you can't convert to Zoroastrianism, but that's less about gatekeeping and more about them not really having a formal method for it. I don't think they'd give a shit if you called yourself one, provided you walked the walk.
