I'm not caught up in what is happening, but in general I tell new mods not to look for problems because trouble will find them on it's own.

Not even commenting on whatever the hell these goons are talking about, but there's a million places online that are better for discussion than SA. Even on reddit, you can at least talk about whatever niche or stupid thing without (usually) having to appease a bunch of sweaty troons. It's actually okay to talk about stuff like Dragon's Crown or Halo without some shithead autist, coddled by the mods, bleating on and on about Kotaku and Polygon articles saying this game was problematic.
Even /v/ is less obnoxious, and at least ResetERA isn't largely a wasteland with only a handful of semi-active megathreads.

For years Lowtax fought against getting upvotes and stickers. Upvotes I get but if goons started giving stickers like KF does then people would start to realize just how empty and content free the place actually is.

C-SPAM has a "Biosphere collapse" thread where everybody posts news articles contributing to their confirmation bias that the world is ending and there's not a damn thing that can be done to stop it.
User emTme3 encourages the others not to fret, since the inevitable downfall of society justifies consumption of anime child pornography. In fact, it justifies consumption of any remaining pleasure to be had on our dying earth!
Sadly, the mods disagreed and gave him a ban+30. One can only wonder what kind of pleasures emTme3 will sample during his month's break. Perhaps his thirst for the exquisite and forbidden will make him the talk of his real-life community!

Yeah, it's not uncommon to have literally a dozen posts in a row that are just emptyquotes or "lol". It's part of their "forum culture". A forum that once purported to be a walled garden of quality is now one of the most content-free places on the internet.

He didn't really "fight against it" so much as he fundraised like $15,000 to move to Xenforo (which would have stickers) and then just kept the money.

Goonswarm has erupted in chaos, after allegations of rampant goon behavior by the leadership. The drama spread to Reddit, though I'm not quite sure what an "investor" is in this sense.
I was in Goonswarm once, and would sometimes lurk in their teamspeak; can't recall the name of the service they were using at the time. I remember one of their fleet commanders, dabigredboat aka DBRB, talking about being at EVE Fanfest in Iceland and engaging in pushy dudebro behavior towards women. At the time, it didn't raise any eyebrows, but I suspect that nowadays he'd get cancelled in a heartbeat for talking about it.
Additionally, someone on Reddit posted a massive callout of Goonswarm leader The Mittani, aka Alex Gianturco. The tl;dr is that somebody on Facebook claims he got excessively handsy with women at some event, and a shitload of comments corroborated that it's a thing he does.

At this point, The Mittani has shat the bed so many times in so many different places that he might be threadworthy. Though the EVE thread on Something Awful is mostly concerned with the possibility that there might be stealth nazis needing to be banned from Goonfleet.

They were using Mumble, I'm pretty sure. WoL/FLJK followed suit because of GSF. WoL originated on the GSF mumble.
