Nobody would have noticed anything awry with this tweet if he didn’t return to it 43 minutes later to tack on that he’s certainly definitely very much hearing about the fancy seats from other people. Tbh he’s probably right that keeping his enemies out of his mouth is a better way to destroy them. Whenever he speaks against someone, he sounds ridiculous and gives them strength. How lucky for us that he can’t for the life of him fucking follow his own advice.
This is why he will never publicly detransition: because trans status has gifted him the holy glow of the underdog, and he's having a lark demanding whatever he wants with the narrative of having been denied it unjustly, of righting ancient wrongs rather than despotically exercising his very posh sense of entitlement. The powers that withheld knowledge from humans in myth were selfish gods. Who are the gods in this story? I see only people behaving according to the pressures that created them: rich men thinking they can take and take without apology; poor men growing wary, understanding that taking too much might trigger backlash; some women going along with the men, trying to be agreeable, virtuous, safe; and other women standing their ground, having realized that there's no safety with men who feel free to trample over anyone who criticizes them.
Re: the screenshotted comment, I don't entirely agree. There's nothing inherently magical about feminine names. Symbols only have the power you allow them. But deadnaming is fun because it's rude — because it tells a mfer who disrespects the group he's transitioning to that you don't respect him either. Crazy how these people rage against respectability politics except when it comes to other people respecting them.
Holy Shit Joan gives absolutely no fucks. Now all that's left is to stop posting there. You can see that she still cares enough about him that she feels an obligation to offer somewhat constructive criticism. Kinda sad.
