This post got buried in the whole kson outfit + Null checkin (how you fuckers do that everytime I look away for a few days is astounding), so I’m responding to it now (slap me with a wall of clocks if someone’s already done that). I believe the shift in thread atmosphere was sometime after the saga of lurkers who believed them announcing themselves contributed to the thread, but before drivebys admitted to coming here just for the drama that’s oh so common to the hobby. (sidenote: I personally ascribe to You’re an Idiot’s ideas on posting)
There was a time when this thread was just people sharing new developments in the world of Vtubing. Cut and dry, I think I’ve called it. No wishing someone would fuck up because there’d be a massive dumpster fire to watch burn, no seething every post like
@Swingletonthesimpleton does. Rather, the driveby trolls would post their little “You know they’re dudes with voicechangers right” spiel, they’d get not a single reaction (unlike recently) and there were no weirdos falseflag larping like
@cuckbeat. But the more new users treated this thread as a chatroom to post their reactions to a stream live, the more they saw users comment on literally every single issue cropped up, the more shitposts piled up, the more they were encouraged to treat it as a shitting ground. And so they did, and so “thread culture” evolved. You can witness this change reflected in the posting histories of certain posters over time,
@Scuttle (being the thread’s foremost source on nijisanji, initally impartial but eventually developing a taste for shitting on holo after getting grilled for a time) and
@RiverBear (wasn’t so shitposty and/or idly tribalistic, I believe)
@kadmckool vomiting straight garbage for a solid 70% of his posts. I stand by my position that this is a secondary thread for him, that he comes here whenever he receives a bam from /vt/.
Gone are the days of backtracking the events that led to Fubuki losing a hardware sponsorship from Asus, of letting events play out instead of obsessively shitposting about the Drama of the Day. Feels like people are overly invested in shit, sometimes.
It’s not entirely bad, though.
@White Stone ‘s analysis reminds me of the thread of old, except for this bit:
I can rrat that she is actually not very comfortable with that aspect of her costume
that right there is /vt/ lingo. In fact, other than having named posters, the ban on thirstposting and moderation personally involved with the topic, this thread would fit right in there: you have thread celebrities/tripfags, the tribalfagging holo versus niji corpo war, the guys that just dump fanart and clips, the people who make hating a certain Vtuber/group/company/whatever their entire personality (shoutout to
@Anon2411, who came here exclusively to shit on a graduating HoloCN for a few months and fucked off forever after the branch dissolved) and the subhumans that are here purely to shitpost. Like the posters that jack themselves off to being better than the hololive subreddit or /vt/, or the sycophants that follow in Null’s wake that occasionally pop their heads whenever he’s mad at this thread because someone was a fucking idiot (realtalk, whoever DM’d him actually deserves a threadban. Unlubricated pussy lookin ass)
But I digress. To answer your question, they’ve been here a long time. You speak in their tongue, eat their food and walk with their shoes. Perhaps it is not that /vt/ is here, but that you are in /vt/. Or something like that.
