'No Stupid Questions' (NSQ) Internet & Technology Edition

Restarting the router won't do anything if the problem is on your remote server. Pinging port 22 from your computer to the server, as kuhaku suggested, is a good first step to see if you even get a response.

If you get nothing, then you need to figure out how to launch a shell on your server. Depending on the provider, you could run a shell right from the browser and poke around from there.

What seedbox/VPS provider are you using? This could further help with debugging.

Whatbox.ca

Since this is their bread and butter i can't imagine the issue existing on their end. I mean its possible i guess but when i had this issue the last time i had an open support ticket with them and they weren't seeing any indication of problems in their side.

Okay. And to confirm the command, you're entering this:
Code:
ssh user_name@<box_name>.whatbox.ca
And the password is the same one you used to log in via Filezilla and the website.

I've done that before and it just times out after a while. I think the message is "closed by <whatbox ip address>". When i get home I'll get a more accurate response for you. Thanks!

You can try pinging the seedbox on port 22 and see what happens, and then the same but from seedbox to your computer (if you're able to connect a mouse and keyboard to it)

Apologies for the double post. Another power outage while at work (mountain lyfe yo) just got home and gave it a shot. Everything is working as intended now. Didn't do anything, it just works now. Go figure.

Depending on the exact device and version of Android it's possible to do either or both.

https://kiwifarms.net/help/bb-codes/ Is this what you're looking for or do you need detailed explanation and examples?
Oh okay. What do I look for in the hardware? It's a low-end device, 32-bit quad-core, running a skinned form of Android 6. If the hardware can do it but the software doesn't support it, does anyone know a USB/file manager that does?

Total Commander for Android should be good to rename the drive without any fuss, can't format it on Android 11. Might be able to on older versions - the supposedly "less restrictive than iOS" system got a lot more restrictive in the last five years.
If available, the option to format the USB drive is under storage settings. "Settings" -> "storage" -> "format USB OTG storage". On my Chinese plastic frame fantastic it's under "about phone" -> "storage" -> "format USB device".
Hardware should be anything above "total piece of crap running Android Go".

I have an electric shaver and it came with a little vial of oil to help with maintenance. Add a little before / after use, etc. The oil is now gone. What sort of oil should I be getting to replace it with? WD40 feels wrong.

WD40 isn't really an oil, it's a degreaser. I imagine you want some kind of mineral oil. A lot of electric shaver manufacturers sell bottles of shaver oil, I know I've seen some at Walmart.

Just some sort of light non-toxic mineral oil. I think they sell this as hair clipper oil some places.

Hi newfag here,

I just wanted some quick clarification on something. When I go to edit my account details, it says "Your full account details are not fully editable". I created my account on July 11th. What I am wondering is how do you get the privilege to fully edit your account details? Is it based on having a certain number of posts? Is it dependent on how old your account is? Thanks in advance for an answer.

How does one do something like this in Vegas or whatever?

Simply put, I want to know how to have 9, 16, or however many videos I want playing in a grid formation at the same time.

Can anyone tell me how much data Print Screen records? Like is it JUST the foremost window, or every window open? If the latter is there any way to remove it?

I don't know about Vegas, but they can be arranged manually on many, many different tracks. Use a little bit of math to get exact values to plug in and you don't have to manually scale or drag them around.

If you want something less janky that's pretty easy, LightWorks(it's free) has that as a pre-made drop-in effect in their video routing system, by default it only goes up to 4x4 I think? But the system is node/schematics based so you can just build on top of that to get even more picture-in-picture, then save it as a preset for future use.

I assume you're talking about Windows. PrtSc will capture all of what is currently shown onscreen. If you hit Alt-PrtSc it will capture only what is currently shown within the boundaries of the active window. (So if you have an "always on top" window but another window behind it is active and you Alt-PrtSc that, the always-on-top window will also be shown in the snapshot)

What's a good Linux distro for someone who's only ever used Windows? Want to mess around with one in a virtual box as prep for when Windows 10 support ends.

Update: I can edit them now, so for anyone else new who has this question, it seems that account details become editable after a week has passed since the creation of an account.
