General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

indeed, I don't give two shits about the lore stuff either but I find some of the overwrought reactions to it even more perplexing becuase it's ultimately completely inconsequential. I still remember the council debuts when folks were acting like they were having teeth pulled any time there was lore during a debut. and then nothing was ever heard of again regarding it in an official manner.
For a bunch of people that hang around a lolcow forum, some really don’t manage to build up more than a surface-level cringe tolerance.

Ame's use of lore is the only one I'll accept

So shit has been so crazy lately I haven't kept up, do we know any more on Nazuna = ghost of Rushia or is it someone else? I guess well all find out for sure soon enough but I seem to recall a few people speculating the little we know about her lines up.
Between the short voice teaser, kson's apparent slip-up, and Mike's fanbox post from the beginning of the month, it's almost certainly her. Nothing completely definitive for a few more hours though

indeed for a community that can scrub hours of gunt streams for nuggets of entertainment one would think sitting through 10 minutes of some weeb cringe related to something they ostensibly enjoy wouldn't be that hard to just shrug at.

At any rate for those going to watch the Vshojo JP debuts, KSon is up first in about a half hour.

Lore is something that feels like it would only matter in side projects right now like Alternative or any official manga that might get made. I don't have any strong feelings on it either way. But if they made a big hololive anime for real or something there's certainly a lot of directions you could take it depending on if you're following lore or following the girls on stream.

I am curious what KSon’s will be like, since it’s less of a “debut” and more of a “now I’m with this company” kinda thing.

Lore is important if Cover are trying to expand their multimedia projects but otherwise character setting should be more than enough.

Frankly speaking, I would have probably enjoyed the lore if I came across it during the past when I was much less jaded and cynical. Some folks seem to think that no one wants this; I can guarantee that as a business, Cover would not be doing this if they didn't have metrics to show otherwise. "Like, comment and subscribe" is mocked by most people, yet analytics show that it has a measurable impact on the channels that do say it.

Same. Even for Council, the only lore video I had an issue with was the first one, as it was the only one that doesn't reveal anything, the second one revealed their silhouettes and the third one was akin to any usual reveal. For Tempus, I expect the next video to be a full reveal since they already showed their silhouettes in the first one. Also, I have mentioned this before, but lore is good for fanarts.

If Nazuna really is MikeNeko then there is hope that VShojo lands Delutaya and Namiegoreng in the future. And I will forever kneel
or somehow pulling not-gibara or not-lulu into the fold to show that no companies former members are safe (though I guess the former Niji COO joining already kinda proved that)

Ame lore stuff is fun and does allow her to be very creative with the things she does and tying it back to her character.

Someone spoke of the cute Coyote earlier, but she just started stream right now Fall guys!!!!! She playing with viewers too, so if you like to join you can!
Hopefully I can survive to the final minigame this time!

For the record i wasn't one of the people who sperged the fuck out last year when council debuted (i was only a lurker), i don't mind lore, the lore to me is just a sign that management do not learn from the success of gen 6 and id gen 3 and still want to push this pointless nonsense. But i guess we shall see who bitches the most when the males do debut.

I was skeptical it was Rushia at the beggining but know im like 99% sure its her, just because there no way that if its not her someone somewhere wouldnt say anything to debunk it, even assuming that Vshojo management its dumb enegh to let a false rumor be the main source of hype for one their new talents just to dissapoint everyone, Mikeneko has to have seen everyone talking about her being Nazuna (no doubt she prolly has even had many people just ask directly) if it wasnt her she have no reson to say so, and if its her she wont say anything because NDA, so considering she hasn't talked about Nazuna at all as far as we are aware its most likely her.

Hasnt Delutaya said she has no intention of working with agencies before?
To be fair so did Kson if the deal was good enough, like its sound it was for Kson, She prolly consider it, most likely i don't see her joining any time soon because she prolly not ready to be the center of attention again, she has only recently seem to got enough confidence to start streaming and interacting on social media outside her fanbox more.

Honestly if this girl is Mikeneko and she does well at VShojo I could see either of those two ending up there. Especially due to the Iwanaga connection (though Iwanaga is just an advisor).

In regards to lore in vtubing, I don't have strong opinions either way, but ultimately I think it gets flak because most vtuber lore is not that good. I don't mind chuuni shit. I'm a fan of Kara no Kyoukai and Boogiepop Phantom lol, I can deal with chuunibyou. Most of the lore discourse in vtubing misses the fact that this "lore" is not typically complicated, clever, or interesting, it's just very purple. It's not End of Evangelion, it's some person pulling fantasy words out of a thesaurus and slapping them in sentences.

Does HoloEN lore actually have a negative impact on HoloEN? Of course not. But people are still gonna make fun of it for being cringe. I mean the Tempus teaser begins with "Thou seekest a new tale." That's just cringe.

The problem with vtuber lore is that it's done in the same way as lore in Korean MMOs - it's all frontloaded at the beginning and then never acknowledged again. Myth unironically handled it the best by working it into their characters and songs and their kayfabe. Council does alright but it definitely feels like more of an afterthought.
