Ive always viewed the great reset as really "return to fuedalism" with them as the lords who are blessed by god and everyone else bound to a lord.
Think about how it worked back then and it will all make sense. They will figure out that whole "how do you stop the king from arising" thing later.

I guess here's where my confusion really lies.
How are they supposed to keep them from just taking what they want? It really doesn't matter if they're not supposed to. They're doing away with responsibility, morals, and social debts. If they have all the fire power, what's keeping them in line? Another private guard company? Then what about that one?
Mercenary companies used to be a thing, yeah. And when the lord couldn't pay up or was weak, they just took shit, didn't they?

This is where automation kicks in. If the bulk of your military power is in kill bots that wont betray it changes things. Also if the robots can do the harvest for you. But yes that is how feudalism classically plays out. Its why they created the whole social contract the way they did where other lords wouldnt acknolwedge usurpers.

That's the thing about promises: they can't be trusted if they're not kept. To command such a force and for it to be effective requires smart and competent people. Smart and competent people don't blindly do shit if there's no benefit for them. Brain drain is real. And people in it for influence and power will want more for themselves than their compatriots.
This is where it all falls apart.

The police, as we've always known them, are johnny-come-lately to nearly every significant shooting event. They don't have to defund them because their budgets have been slashed and nearly every police force in the country is seeing officers say fuck this shit, I want out.
Contrast that with the amazing rise of violent, totally fucked up crime that even if you get caught for blowing another nigga's head off, some liberal DA will let you go waltz on da streets again.
Suddenly, crime does pay. The only heartwarming stories I see are where an armed private citizen has stepped up and said "Fuck you Tyrone!" and busted a cap from his own weapon in some nigga's forehead.
This is where we are heading as a society. The police cannot protect you. You need to be able to protect yourself, even while putting 5 dollars plus fuel in your ride and Tyrone declares it to now be HIS ride at gunpoint. You have to be ready to cap his sorry ass with no hesitation, no regrets, to protect your family in said ride.
Stories just like this are becoming more common. Prepare. And always shoot to kill, because there's nothing worse than damn wounded Tyrone suing you for violating his civil rights and sheeeet. He wuz gonna be Professor Emiratus and shit before he tried to kill you and your family.

God damn it. Yes, it sucks ass she's getting rich off the US taxpayer, but we need some more manufacturing here and not in Taiwan or worse, China. Sadly that's just how shit goes when you're dealing with Congress. A Congressman will never do the right thing except by accident or bribery, after all.
