I'm surprised that they're actually going away. From what I gather their IT setup is a mess of connected shit that is going to drive anyone taking over insane. I'm looking forward to everyone getting their knives out and going after each other for what someone said a decade ago in a video game.

What he seems to be saying is that the closure of the Laissez's Faire subforum on Something Awful led to Trump being elected president. There's an argument to be had that shutting down LF started Something Awful's decline into wokeness, but I don't fuckin know what they're getting at with Trump, nor what fucking 420chan had to do with any of it.

What he's referring to is some self-important Goon meme where they take the the tiny domino topples the big one (aka its not a slippery slope when its in the past and we agree with it) and people use it to talk about the butterfly effect. The goons have "Lowtax bans loli" goes into "Trump elected president" - banning anime creates 4chan. Then something like 4chan makes meme magic real, qanon's trust worthy plan puts trump into office. Basically goons trying to pretend they still matter and blaze the trail of internet culture instead of being a hive of washed up trannies and tankies who are providing cover for pedophiles because mod pettiness, weird posting cliques, and hivemind thought policing have chased off anyone who was actually clever, creative, or interesting.

When FLCL was all the range, weebs were still kept in the closet, like furries. And FLCL has some of the most annoying "You need a degree in quantum physics to get all the jokes"-class fans in all of existence. Add to this the series title is about puberty and Japan has very different moral red-lines than the US, and you've got a recipe for emotionally stunted weebs to start projecting themselves onto characters.
Now you have weebs all over, and there isn't just the One Bad & Weird Anime anymore.
