Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

never watched much anime, but I loved him in that Star Trek show he did. The accusations/weird stuff around him never made me want to stop watching the show privately, as I believe people have good and bad sides, and he bought his best side to that Trek show. However, I wouldn't go around telling people who felt unsafe around him or think he's out of control that they have to work with him/be around him at cons or whatever.

I dunno what the fan story is right now. Is it that you all think he didn't do it? Or he did it but so what? Or he did it, but he's on a redemption journey and deserves a second chance?

lol what kind of proof would someone have? His fingerprints on her ass?
Philosophically that raises interesting points for me. What if there's someone here who was groped by him but has no proof? You'd want them to keep quiet, not because you think they're lying, but because you like Vic and want the crap off him?

What if there was an un-proven claim here of a grope from someone annoying and hated, like Vaush or Veronica Ivy/McKinnon? Somehow I don't think anyone here would be yelling angrily for proof then lol.

Apologies if these have been gone over before as this is my first time pondering the "cool person I like is accused" game
Anybody who asserts a claim has to cite proof of that claim. Any claim asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. Has nothing about the personalities involved. It's basic logic.

Funimation's corruption and monopoly on dubbing has run its course. Now that they have actual competition from the man the legend Vic himself,
The new studio will need to get some good productions that need a dub. Unfortunately it'll be hard since most funi & Viz get first pickings of any new property.

they will either stop their rampant insertion of politics as we have seen lately as in Prison School and Dragon Maid or they will ramp it up even further as they are now under a bunch of pressure. Hopefully, this is the start of the downfall for them.
Funi won't fall unless they lose the dubbing rights to dragon ball, which will never happen because the founder of funimation is related to a animator in Toei.

What a great way to a enter 5300. Happy 5300 pages.

Also it just hit me that it sounds like the studio will be working with Nippon Animation for the time being? I'm looking into their repertoire to see if any of them have been brought to the States in the past, and Saban was the only one bringing them over, but only a few shows. I mean FFS neither Anne of Green Gables nor Heidi: Girl of the Alps have not, I repeat, NOT come out to the States. You would think the names of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata would've meant there'd be interest in bringing them over.

Nada. Not for North America.

If Anime Matsuri's new studio is gonna be working with Nippon Animation, this potentially means we're gonna be getting some of the World Masterpiece Theaters out here, and maybe some of the Saban stuff rescued that Discotek Media hasn't touched.

This is a big fucking deal, and anyone who's gonna scream and throw fits over the fact Christian Man Bad is getting involved with this have shown their asses as the fakes and posers they are who don't give two shits about anime.

how would any sexual harassment/groping/assault ever get dealt with then? Considering people don't carry cameras filming their body 24 hours a day

I hope at least one of the shows is something I would be interested in Watching.
The living zipper one looks really fucking weird, but the other one looks kind of cool.
She's anti-woke but she is a black woman so she's a bit harder to cancel solely via Twitter mob.
I'm not hunting for the clip, but I remember when she was on Geeks and Gamers she claimed to be some kind of European. So even if she has a darker complexion with curly hair she's no negroid.

In he said/she said, it comes down to who you find more believable.

By default I don't consider people whining about muh secksual a-salt on social media (or Kiwifarms) to be believable.

She's half-black and half-German. IIRC, her father is from Germany and her mother is a black American.

[FAN]subs don't
God, I wish. Back in 2021, Bandai held DigiFes (short for Digimon Festival) and featured a new Digimon Tamers audiodrama by Chiaka Konaka, the head writer of Tamers. It was performed live, featuring a new major villain titled “Political Correctness”. It’s main attack was labeled “Cancel Culture”. This, ironically, prompted “The Wild Bunch”, a group of Tamers fansubbers, to flip their shit and make a massive deal over it in an attempt to cancel Konaka. Going so far as to translate it, *hardsub* their translation on what is currently the only available video of the original stream, and put a long ass disclaimer on the video about “Right Wing Conspiracies”.

So no, unfortunately the people autistic enough to learn Japanese to understand their favorite cartoons are not Based & Redpilled.

Oh boy, you've never heard of how things are actually investigated. You just want to believe the worst in people, lack of evidence be damned. LMAO. What does Monica's sphincter taste like, Ron?

I've been autistically mentioning Jeff Johnson every other post now, but looks like Overlord Season 4 dub starts tomorrow

I'm assuming Demiurge doesn't appear in the first episode, hence him not being credited, but I'll be paying attention to the future cast announcements.

Get ready to have shivers down your spine, your jaw dropped and ribs tickled, because the grand return of Ains Ooal Gown in Overlord IV is officially the next Summer 2022 SimulDub to make its way onto Crunchyroll, starting July 19!
