Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I'm torn between my long-standing policy that no one should give one shit about anything anime, or even anime-adjacent, and the fact that so many of the people involved in this situation are utterly insufferable.

I guess it's okay if I only care that hoes are angry

She is a firm believer in "innocent until proven guilty" and was against the KickVic witch hunt and has openly hung around with the Geeks & Gamers crowd on one of their livestreams.

IIRC, in that same livestream she complained about SJW's.
Oh shit, I didn't think she would be that balls deep. Good for her and I hope she watches her back considering the company she is working for. Surprised nobody cancelled her for what you just told me.

You don't have to buy animoo merch or attend weeb cons. You can even laugh at Vic's borderline fruity voice.

Just don't forget to laugh at the land whales, liars, and cucks that have dug their trenches against Vic.

While Vic is midly amusing in his own way, the other people are hilarious.

She's anti-woke? What did she say or do to piss them off?

Yeah. Miller was on a podcast where she talked about her disapproval of woke culture, and even has a YouTube channel called "Daywalker Comedy" where she makes fun of social justice warriors and current pop culture. She's more vocal on her personal social media than her VA ones.

Here's some clips and the show itself

This isn't uncommon, though. Viz dubbed Kuroko's Basketball nine years after the anime was released. Genbanojo existed in less time.

This is just pure copium at this point.

If this studio manages to snag away rights that would have otherwise gone to Crunchyroll, that would be fucking lulz.

She even went on podcasts with Nerdrotic, Rippa and those guys, suprisingly.

The real people who lose are the people who like the dubs because they can't understand shit, but also have the subtitles on because they watch everything else with subtitles.
Literally me. I don't watch anime for starters and my hearing is shit so I need dub and subs.

Also who is Vic Mignona and why so many people are sperging out over him?

The only reason why I don't think they've done so just yet is because she's a black woman. While most SJW's are fine with cancelling minorities they feel are in league with their ideological enmies, KV speds are dumb even by Woke standards.

I also think that the more savvy members of the Funimation clique like Chris Sabat and Jaimie Marchi believe that if they canned her just for having a normal and rational perspective about the Weeb Wars then she could either air any dirty laundry they have or she'd beat the wokesters at their own game and accuse them of racism or something.

Granted, I honestly don't think Miller would ever do that or even think of it in the first place, but I wouldn't put it past someone like Sabat to think she would. It's like the old saying about how thieves always think someone is trying to steal from them...

I dunno what the fan story is right now. Is it that you all think he didn't do it? Or he did it but so what? Or he did it, but he's on a redemption journey and deserves a second chance?
I'm going to assume you are questioning in good faith, but anytime his accusers bring claims on a social media platform and are questioned by the users of said platform they recoil with "I don't have to prove anything" as if they expect you to take what they claim at face value.
Not to mention they dogpile anyone that questions their narrative.
Some of them, like Jennifer Lynn Hunt, are habitual liars.
That kind of thing insults your intelligence after a while.
lol what kind of proof would someone have? His fingerprints on her ass?
Philosophically that raises interesting points for me. What if there's someone here who was groped by him but has no proof? You'd want them to keep quiet, not because you think they're lying, but because you like Vic and want the crap off him?
Vic Mignogna is one of the most documented convention guests in the last 15 years.
For instance, @I am the Lizard Queen did a brilliant breakdown of Vic Mignogna's schedule from Tekkoshocon 2007:
I recommend reading that thread.
Are you telling me a guy who is seen by so many people that have phones or other recording devices wouldn't have something tangible pop-up now?
Or how about Jamie Marchi claiming Vic Mignogna pulled her hair from the base of her skull in the lobby of Funimation?
Mind you this is the same lobby that had locks installed after the Johnny Otaku incident and probably has cameras set up there as well.
Yet, Jamie didn't present the footage (if it exists) to Funimation staff prior to 2019 to remove him, let alone during the lawsuit?
how would any sexual harassment/groping/assault ever get dealt with then? Considering people don't carry cameras filming their body 24 hours a day
Let's compare that with Ryan Haywood, formerly of Rooster Teeth:
In regards to the pictures, the last one is her (naked) wearing a jacket (custom or some twitch thing iirc) that he has worn on camera

See this in the middle of the night.
What do?
I believe this one 100% because that jacket the woman is wearing IS the one Ryan wore during that weekend.

Pretty sure the okatron 5k assholes still are employed, they just rebranded funimation as crunchyroll dubs.

They'll never replace funi actors. I believe deman will be in the new dragon ball movie as well.
Don't let Funi live rent free in your heads my dudes.🥺

Trust in the fact that yes, they are done and all the chodes that worked for them that are still there are on borrowed time.
After all, look how fast sony wiped thier name out from there own products.
All of there licenses now say Crunchyroll, even flagship stuff like one piece is under Crunchyrolls name. Even Dragon Ball will now have Crunchyrolls branding from here on out.
The only reason why you'll still see Funis name for a while still is because there's so much of thier back stock. It'll take years to fully rid themselves of it.
World Masterpiece Theater is a big deal in Japan. It's not just American literature, it's other popular literature that's famous the world-over (sometimes not even literature, there's Trapp Family Story based on the Austrian family singing group). The rest of the world got these anime, we just never did probably because of length. I wouldn't have doubted that Nickelodeon back in the day would've had the interest to give them that television deal Saban would've looked for, but y'know, licenses cost money and the like, and Saban was changing gears in the '90s.

It's just a real travesty and shame no one's tried to bring more of them to the States and give them more exposure. It's like the final frontier of weebdom.
This is completely off topic, but I can't help it. Grimm's fairy tales was released recently, you don't know how excited I was for that. If they do get more, I'd like to see Anne of green gables get released.

During the Anime Matsuri Special Presentation Stream, Anime Matsuri co-owner Deneice Leigh announced that they created a new recording studio with Jacob Takanashi and Vic Mignogna as not only voice talent as well as ADR Directors and were co-producing two new English dubs of GENBANOJO and ZIP! SHIMEZO from Nippon Animation:

The cast list was also announced:

As noted in the stream, there will be a World Premiere at Anime Matsuri with some of the voice cast and representatives from Nippon Animation.

The salt is going to be greater than in all the oceans of the world! Truly wondrous.

And grats to Vic and good luck to all involved. We certainly need more, different translators and companies in the western industry.

Grimm's Fairytales was partially dubbed by Saban (they had to look outside of the U.S. for the other episodes in the second season) and had enough nostalgia factor among the oldtaku running Discotek to look into it--just don't get me wrong, I really liked Grimm's Fairytales and was happy they were able to release it fully. This announcement is different because a series like Anne of Green Gables was never dubbed in English nor was considered for an English release even if subbed, and I don't know why Discotek is dragging their feet on World Masterpiece Theater, if they were pursuing it at all. This was a niche that needed to be filled for a long time after Saban stopped, so it took someone long enough to do it if that's what this studio's going to be doing.
