It's a testament to how batshit Chantal is that Mae can be held as an example of a reasonable woman here. She did a lot of very weird things, but when the alleged attack happened, she got away from Nader and her basic story remained the same.

Chantal has made it very clear that she only considers how Nader treated her to be abuse when she is mad that he's not giving her attention. When he's nice to her, it wasn't abusive.

I really hate playing the "real victim" card but it's so hard not to... yes, real DV victims often go back to their abusers, yes they make excuses for them, and yes they take many attempts to leave. But that's not because they're changing their mind about the abuse. It's in spite of the abuse.

"He hit me, but I made him angry. He hit me, but I love him. He hit me, but he said sorry and he won't do it again. He hit me, but I don't know where else to go."

It's messy and complicated. Even when DV victims flat out forgive their abusers and want to go back to them, it's often still with the knowledge that the abuse happened. There's just something else going on that, for some reason, means she's willing to overlook that.

With Chantal, whether or not an attack actually occurred depends 100% on how she feels about him at the time she recounts the story. It's a combination of a stunning (and unsurprising) lack of self-respect, a gargantuan amount of self-loathing, a poor attempt at manipulation, and sheer stupidity.

Nader is still a blight on this earth, though. I wish he'd slip through a sewer grate.

ETA: calling Chantal an abuser... I can see that in general-- at the very best she's a toxic friend and partner. But I don't think she was ever abusive to Nader. He used her WAY more successfully than she used him. Stalker? Yes. Abuser? Not to Nader, IMO. Though it is sort of satisfying how he probably thought she'd be an easy mark and now he might never be rid of her.

While I believe DeeDee and other women were physically abused by him, he wouldn't throw away his pay pig.

DeeDee saw the short straw 'cuz he thinks she has nothing more to offer than any of the dozen mods on his hugbox. She's replaceable.

Ninja'ed. But I was thinking of a way for Nader to get rid of Chantal once and for all; he just needs to tell her that he wasn't who she was supposed to meet at all, and that it was the guy who offered her money to flash for $50 all along.

Since he spoke French I wonder if he was offering her money to go the fuck away after fatfishing him.

And the person who exposed these tapes went from showing off how slim she was wearing Nader's shirt, to burning it, to releasing the recordings she had for months. These people are horrible people who attract more horrible people. Remember when the worst person Chantal attracted was KarateJoe?

I took a break from gunt for awhile—which I highly recommend.

I fell off before the bibi break up and came back close to the post-coke addiction. It’s been a year now and I’ve finally caught up through every page of the Nader arc while keeping up with the current mess simultaneously.

The one thing that keeps surprising me is there were no good times. She came on live with bruises and exhaustion, saying he’s pushy and controlling, sometime hinting (and other times blatantly stating) to fucked up things he’s done around/to her.

While yes, Chantal lies, it’s absolutely fascinating to look back to the beginning and see that things have been consistently bad from the start.

They way she talks about “behind the scenes” and “you don’t know him,” you’d think there would have been a solid connection at some time.

But there never was, even in the slightest. She shit talked him almost every day and still she begged, and even bribed, him to take her back—as recently as a few weeks ago.

Anyone who has sympathy for her now is only doing her harm—abuse or not. She saw (and/or experienced) the obvious signs over and over and she’s still holding on to something that is purely fictional.

She loves to bring up that this is her “karma” for downplaying other victims. No fatso—this is what you get for wanting a piece of shit all to yourself out of jealously, spite, and ego.

Part of me hopes she gets her reward, because the twisted prize seems a bit semi-consciously deserved.
