The reason /pol/ and all the other "containment boards" even exist is because the mods banned anything fun on /b/, which is supposed to have no rules about what content you can discuss. The consistent push to moderate all the fun out of the main boards is why it sucks.

Meanwhile /b/ is now mostly porn spam, often thinly disguised commercial porn, with zero actual content. It's like a lunar landscape. And the mods don't do shit about that. Honestly they should all face the wall, at least after the troon mods save some bullets by doing it themselves.

The issue with /co/ is that for a while people wanted to split the board because you either have faggots who will try to anthrax you for making a New Green Lantern or fags who ironically want to discuss a cartoon for pre-schoolers with five frames of animation. /tv/ might have ironic and unironic pedos, but /co/ has some fags worse than /a/ with the loli shit because /a/ at least has the excuse of better drawing and animation.

I'd argue that libertarians either cuck themselves or grow more extremist. The Programmer Libertarians who served as code monkeys during the late 80-early 2000's are fucking weird because I've seen the majority go more NatSoc rather than commie. /pol/ and /new/ started libertarian/ left-leaning conservative and then went hard right as soon as anyone started reading about banking and fed bullshit. I remember a few people bringing up Marx when /new/ was revived as /pol/ and you had actual threads with anons going into detail about how retarded the communist manifesto is.
The other side is them trooning out or becoming increasingly degenerate to the point of forming gay little cults. This descends more into circlejerk rather than outright group think, /leftypol/ is not really an echochamber; it's more of an outright cult for worthless sad sacks.

I'd argue that /pol/ transition from libertarian to more unhinged is probably due to more and more 4chan users being aware of Fed honeypots after Hal Turner and other gay ops got outed.

A lot of boards were made over time to try to curb politics or other topics on parts of the site. /bant/ is to /int/ what /pol/ is to /news/ basically. The jannies consistently subdivided the allowed topics of discussion in general boards so that less and less ended up on the boards people actually liked going to.

Banter is essential to /int/ board culture, so dividing it just makes the board more stale (and gives an excuse to sweep up topics they dislike). Political content has to have its own ghetto because the mods say so.

My issue is that /pol/ mods and jannies seem to be sweeping it up at pretty fast paces these days and for certain individuals. The Rugga stuff pointed to that one of the newer mods for /tv/ might've been someone he groomed and the Hunter Biden threads being pruned even though they were a big happening.
