It goes further than just health. My uncle developped schizophrenia since he carried the requisite genes to be affected that way. It destroyed his life and also had a tremendous impact on his son's quality of life since he effectively lost his father. It had a negative impact on society at large tgat now needed to pay for his healthcare and disability benefits (Canada). Oftentimes, the negative externalities of drug use go much farther than just fucking up the person's health.Absolutely, but the only people I can think of that claim drugs are good for your health are the pharmaceutical industry and white guys with dreadlocks.
We will deadass have customers/clients/whatever show up at 8 AM reeking of weed. They'll stink up the entire lobby.
"It's not addictive!!1!!"
Blow is more dangerous. That's something I always wondered about. Why is it always weed that people a pushing for legalization and not, say, an upper like cocaine? The former gave us smelly dreadlock, horrifying patchouli oil, and terrible Seth Rogan comedies while the later gave us the 80s.
>Nah, man BIG TOBACCO has PERVERTED it with, like, GENETIC ENGINEEERING, man.I love how one of the most common argument stoners make for why it isn't addictive is
"ITS NATURAL MAN IT GROWS ON THE GROUND"
motherfucker where do you think tobacco comes from? particle accelerators?
I definitely want it to be regional. Outright prohibition obviously won't work but having less weed in some states works a lot like dry counties. You don't need to have all the negatives of the drug right in your backyard.Tobacco and alcohol have done far more damage to society than some stupid fucking plant people are smoking.
I'd rather have marijuana be legalized on a state by state basis than some overarching federal legalization pushed by dems with awful "racial equity" poison pills baked into it that screw everyone over.
If you can't tell the difference in dangers associated with weed and cocaine, you'd make a great DEA agent. The last time I can recall their head speaking in front of congress, they were unable to admit that marijuana was less toxic than heroin. It goes further than just health. Well, federalism is racist and stuff. It has to be NY/DC/LA/SF's way or the highway. The mayo ghouls aren't allowed to govern their own affairs, because it might hurt someone's feefees.I definitely want it to be regional. Edit: also bourbon is amazing and you are all wrong for liking the wrong drugs.
Hate to get all pedantic who am i kidding, not really but Zoning laws have been around since at least the 19th Century in the US and generally have some value in terms of health and safety and upholding property values, but I get your point. Thankfully my parents and most people i know of that generation aren't stereotypical boomers, so I don't have as much resentment towards them. if anything, most of my ire is towards Gen X and my fellow Millennials.I don't want to go too deep on this generational divide but there are cultural differences between the generations. The better question to ask would be what was the culture like before the Boomers took the reins, during and after. I don't see things like zoning laws, attitudes to further education funding and (ever growing) corruption in politics as unrelated. There is a "Boomer" mindset, it's just that the mindset is certainly not held by all or possibly even a majority.
Millennials aren't going to be much better either. The influx of woke shit into every aspect of our lives has a lot to do with our cohort entering middle/senior management. As The boomers can be blamed as a cohort for the shit @Ruin mentioned we can be blamed for this woke shit. So I'm happy to through shit, but there's plenty that can be thrown back.
I don't want any legislation banning drugs, just social pressure to not take it to excess. If you can be a dunctional member of society, no issue there. If we gotta collectively bail your ass, drop the habit and get your shit together. I think it's achievable without getting the state involved but not in our current degenerate culture. If you can't tell the difference in dangers associated with weed and cocaine, you'd make a great DEA agent. The last time I can recall their head speaking in front of congress, they were unable to admit that marijuana was less toxic than heroin.
Drug use does create problems that carry over onto society, but that falls into the sugary soda debate. "If people are all diabetic and fat, the social costs of health-care will go up. Banning soda will reduce that financial burden on society." Not subsidizing health-care would also achieve that goal but nobody is ready to start stripping the feds of power they delegated to themselves based on nothing.
I think that's overthinking it. I think he picked Pence because Pence looked like a VP right out of Central Casting. He wasn't going to overshadow the boss, which is what you want in a number 2 guy. That he turned out to be a snake is just because Trump underestimated the swamp. I think we all did though, I'm massively politically cynical and I didn't think it was as bad as it ended up being.
Just part of the Neoconservative-Populist power struggle currently going on in the Republican Party.Who here thought that if the Republicans won a come-from-behind victory with a dark horse candidate, they, not the Democrats, the Republicans, would have him investigated for treason based on transparently fake evidence? I knew the GOP hated winning, but I never in a million years thought they hated winning so much they'd metaphorically saw their dicks off without anesthetic just to get back to second place.
Pretty much, Trump giving his blessing to specific candidates in each state is, if anything an attempt to smuggle a third new party by devouring the carcass left of the GOP that's guarded by old vulturesJust part of the Neoconservative-Populist power struggle currently going on in the Republican Party.
The GOP is the Washington General, they're not meant to win, they're just upholding their end of the deal. I just didn't think it was 90% of them.Who here thought that if the Republicans won a come-from-behind victory with a dark horse candidate, they, not the Democrats, the Republicans, would have him investigated for treason based on transparently fake evidence? I knew the GOP hated winning, but I never in a million years thought they hated winning so much they'd metaphorically saw their dicks off without anesthetic just to get back to second place.
Zoning used to be a tool to improve overall (urban) well-being and plan future development so it works better.Hate to get all pedantic who am i kidding, not really but Zoning laws have been around since at least the 19th Century in the US and generally have some value in terms of health and safety and upholding property values, but I get your point. A corpocrat neo-con is about as populist as Nancy Pelosi.HE'S NOT A POPULIST FOR FUCK'S SAKE
I'm a firm subscriber to Option 2 - grow it myself. I don't trust shit off the streets these days and I grow organically and KNOW it's never been sprayed with any bug killer or other shit. The prices at the weed pharmacies are insane -- $80-$120 for few grams of bud. I can get 20 quality fem hybrid seeds for less than that. Growing it is legal here and fun and is just one addition to all the fruits and veggies I already grow. Not particularly a stoner, but it does help on those days my arthritis flares up or my bum knee decides it's going to throw pain waves and make me miserable. Put up like a dozen jars of Bruce Banner in Mason jars in my pantry last season of some very fine bud. Just like I can sauerkraut, pickles, and make my own sausage. I give it away to family and friends, but have never even tried to sell it. Everybody that's tried it says it's great. Trying OG Kush this year and so far, so good."Fuck it, I'll just get my stuff from Bob like always or grow it myself. Cheaper."
