The guy hasn't hid his bent for years and clearly doesn't give a shit. I rarely watch his post-zp streams, but I was curious about the presentation of this one (as I expected, I hate it, and it reads like it was written by the archetypal zoomer teenager trying to be deep), and in it he loudly pooh-poohed the people complaining about the term "calarts" as effectively just trying to cancel people, including the ren and stimpy guy. I really do not think he gives a shit if a two-second trump gag and a two-second abortion ruling gag gets the pearls clutched and the couches fainted upon, in the same way he doesn't care if him using the term calarts makes some trannies skip a heartbeat

It would be like willingly watching Jeremy Hambeast and then malding every time he made a Biden sniffing joke. What were you expecting? (I can't really think of a conservative equivalent to ZP who isn't on the level of Hambeast's "quality," as otherwise I'd have brought them up.)

He's always made little snipes at Aussie and UK politics but I think that they were given a pass because:

- It sailed over the majority of his audience's head as they don't know who Lord Fadderly Britington is. Or they do and don't give a shit cos that sort of sniping isn't seen as tribal dick-measuring on the level that is prevalent in Yank politics.
- It was about topics that I think most folks would find common ground on (eg, Australia's ridiculous censorship/rating laws)
- The climate back then vs now wasn't as fucking autistic when it came to politics. I'm pretty sure he had a few stabs at Dubya back in the day (and even a few at Obama) but they weren't so fucking polarizing like it seems to be now.

This bitching about 'politics' creeps up again and again in this thread. I dunno if he's changed from having a cutaway line/gag to full on pulpiting like Jim Sterling, but if people are gonna get bent out of shape because he's got thoughts different than you, grow up. I stopped following Yahtzee years ago. He just stopped being funny, his political jabs became more one sided after he moved to California and he gave his animal crossing review to his wife and just seemed bored and resigned to the games he reviewed. The enthusiasm from his days of 2010s was gone and I just didn't want to waste my time on someone going through the motions of doing a review.

I don't think finding someone's social media account has ever been a boon - I think strongly of how Jim in the RLM videos where he appears is... generally milquetoast, sometimes good on the two-person shows, and then on twitter is just an obnoxious cunt.

All that said, I think that it's generally not healthy for anyone at all to use or pay attention to social media, so I just ignore it out of habit.

I think it's the AVGN Syndrome. Now that he's been at it for so long - the 15th anniversary is the 24th of this month - we just... know his tastes. He's old and has other shit to deal with, so his tastes aren't gonna change anytime soon. I mostly use ZP as a means to discover what new games are out and if anything seems interesting on its premise alone, since I don't really follow new releases or gaming "news" more generally.

I give him points for at least still actually making the stuff, unlike Rolfe, but it is pretty routine. Like James, I don't think his other projects really pan out that well, so it's just a steady paycheck. And also like Rolfe, can't exactly blame the guy for raking it in with something so decidedly low-effort.
