We're back to Switch's full 30/30 domination in Japan for the seventh time now. Likely to happen more often around the last quarter of 2022 as Playstation releases of japanese games have gotten scarcer.

I wish Sandslot/D3 Publisher would release Earth Defense Force 6 on PC day one (or fairly soon) so I could support the devs instead of watching them struggle for how long on two dead Playstation consoles. Perhaps this is what happens to those unlucky enough to bet on the wrong horse early on development.

Stray already pulled off impressive sales and that was made by a smaller team as was Bridge of Spirits. If anything the PS5 has shown that there's already an audience for smaller niche games like those on the system.

If the PS5 is dead at this point the Xbox is even deader. But systems that are "dead" don't cross the 20 million mark within the first two years and keep selling out. Playstation systems have traditionally always taken awhile to get going and the PS5 is really no different. PS1 took until 1997 to really take off. Previously the PS4 sold tens of millions in north america within it's first few years and only sold around 2 million consoles in japan. They're not lying when they're saying the PS5 is on track to meet or exceed the PS4 because it's mirroring it's global performance. The PS3 was the on where they didn't even crack 15 million consoles within it's first two years. The PS3 was pretty much kept alive due to Uncharted and their western development studios and had very few first party titles that sold over 10 million. The PS5 is not mirroring the PS3 in any such ways because that was strewn with a ton of first party game failures and underperforming major titles.

Here's the thing though, microsoft is a monolithic global conglomerate bent on subjugating society to their will, through biotech, IT, entertainment, hardware. They can burn billions in the same way some people get rid of spare change.
Sony? not by a mile.

Also PSone, PS2 and PS4 didn't take a while to get going. People stood in line during the freezing winter for a PS2 despite having total trash to play for a few months.

That's exactly what I mean. Even for the PS2 things like Final Fantasy 10 didn't come until much later. Usually by year 3 or 4 the system kicks into gear. Most of the games the PS2 was known for didn't come until later in the systems' life.

I'd argue that it just proves the exact same as many other cross-PS4/5 games. And there is still not a reason to own a PS5 aside from being an early adopter, content creator or a sonyfag

Give them a plat trophy for it and they'll pull it off
To those that play Killzone: Shadow Fall, you have three weeks to obtain its multiplayer trophies. Guerrilla Games is shutting down servers for three of their titles.

Thanks, now Killzone cannot be played online (officially) anymore. Guess they're killing that franchise now.

The PS1 also didn't take long to put a big mark on the japanese console industry, after its release on December 1994

Not even the PS4 (aka the port machine of japanese PS3 games) was performing as bad as the PS5 currently does.

Edit: For curiosity sake, japanese Playstation ads during the 1994-95 period

Yeah except the Japanese console industry bends to how things perform globally. The Saturn was killed after PlayStation took off globally due to Final Fantasy 7, it was neck and neck with the Saturn until FF7 came out. Hell the Dreamcast was killed after it's poor global performance post launch. It did fine in japan but the rest of the world not doing well sealed it's fate after 2 years.

The PS5 has a much larger digital influence than previous playstation consoles including having an all digital system. You're just going by physical sales of a singular region but's it's shown that Sony is more reliant on digital sales worldwide. So all the numbers you're posting are missing a lot of parts to make a 1:1 comparison.

Speaking of Marissa, he's been awfully quiet lately.
Hey, lay off him, when he doesn't sperg as hard he's a decent poster. He just needs to tone it down a bit and stop treating dubios opinions as facts.

You're a moron. FFX came out a year after the PS2 was released in the west, along with Silent Hill 2, Gran Turismo 3, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid 2 etc. The PS2 was a MONSTER! Holy shit that was a thing to behold.

edit: much like the PS5 it was in short supply and impossible to find for a while but that didn't stop developers from making games for it that sold millions.

Persona 3 came out in 2006, Snake Eater was in 2004, Persona 4 was in 2008, Final Fantasy 12 was in 2006, and Dragon Quest 8 was in 2004.

So what, publishers released games towards the end of [a] generation? What else are they supposed to do? Your point was that the PS2 didn't have games right out of the gate and likened it to the current situation with the PS5.
