Sony hate thread

All this talk of store shelves reminds me of a certain comic.
I know, >VGCats, but it still works.

This new fascinating strategy of not making any PS5s to go along with no games whatsoever will surely pay off in the end for soney.
It will drive people to Sony's PS5 streaming service. It's all very simple, Sony will buy PS5s from themselves, driving up the numbers, and it will be a tax writeoff. Genius move, they typically sell consoles at a loss to consumers like those fools at MS but this way it will be pure profit while also getting people hooked on the PSNow ecosystem. PSNow also plays the far more popular PS4 and PS3 games so there's not even any need for them to make PS5 exclusives, it's the perfect bait and switch.

PS5: Old Games, in a New Package

Brilliant, impossible marketing tactic alongside it looking like an anime character missing his head.

If only I could buy a ps5, I'd own at least 10 by now.

I think the chip shortage is pretty much over tbh, especially when it comes to computer parts. The Steam Deck doubled production and there is a surplus of video cards on the market. The only bottleneck I see is Sony Retardation and shipping
china is still being funny with lockdowns tho, and while you now can get chips, getting them from A to B is the hard expensive part. plus people having less money in general buying products with said chips.

Some production lines are still experiencing issues with labour/resources and it might take another year or two to get the supply of chips at the level of demand they need to meet in order to reach that market equilibrium.

But for the most part the scalpers heyday and the artificially inflated prices are mostly over, as most suppliers seem to be circumventing the scalper issue now with a lot more reputable sellers on the market, plus because of that the prices are a bit more competitive again so you don't need to pay an arm and a leg from one supplier, as long as you can find it from another.

Inflation won't be bringing the prices down that much however, just preventing it from wildly fluctuating.

Our company is getting ads by various companies who produce chips and various other micro-circuitry. I believe it is due to our company sleeping on that.
Seems like companies bought the medias „it’s all so rare now“-idea that some don’t think they can buy get a production window the coming fiscal year.

From what I've read the big players bought up excessively long production windows just in case, because the supply of wafers(cut from silicon ingots) was limited as well so they didn't know how much they would have or have coming in in September when they bought the time in February. iirc TSMC doesn't provide the silicon itself and this led to hoarding, driving up prices and further constraining supply for others.

I just got an email inviting me to purchase a PS5 direct from Sony. Is it worth buying? The money isn't the issue, but the only exclusive game I saw that looked decent and wasn't either coming to or likely to come to PC was Gran Turismo 7. I like racing games, but $5/600 for a single game is a little steep.

Honestly, i bought one last year and i barely use it. I played the fuck out of the Demons Souls remake and finished a couple of things i had from my PS4 library but it genuinely has fuck all games that are worth full price on it at the moment. I want to play the Rachet and Clank and Horizon but i'll be fucked if i'm going to spend 80 bucks a piece on them. I was going to get GT7 but it ended up sounding like a bit of a disaster with a bunch of microtransactions and grinding.

Gamepass has spoiled me and my Series X is by far my main console now. Even then i've only bought one game for it (Lost Judgment) and i used MS rewards points to get it for free during a sale. Seriously, i was fairly sceptical of the whole "Netflix for games" model but it has saved me a ton of money and i've ended up finding a bunch of games i loved that i wouldn't have otherwise played.

So, no. I couldn't really recommend the PS5 at the moment.

Definitely wouldn't buy it if that's all you're interested in playing on it. I think the four game rule is a pretty good standard to have for buying a console and I was only able to get that many for it because I never owned a PS4. It also doubles as a nice 4K Blu-ray player if that's something you care about. I'm overall happy with it since it seemed cheaper than making my PC 4K/next-gen ready but yeah pretty sparse lineup of exclusives still.

I hope they at least sign it.
