Provincial agriculture ministers are expressing frustration with the Trudeau government over plans to effectively reduce fertilizer use by Canada’s farmers in the name of fighting climate change.

A meeting of federal and provincial ministers wrapped up in Saskatoon on Friday with several provinces saying they are disappointed.

The federal government is looking to impose a requirement to reduce nitrous oxide emissions from fertilizers saying it is a greenhouse gas contributing to climate change. While the Trudeau government says they want a 30% reduction in emissions, not fertilizer, farm producer groups say that at this point, reducing nitrous oxide emissions can’t be done without reducing fertilizer use.

“Provinces were disappointed by the lack of flexibility and consultation regarding the federal target,” Ontario’s Lisa Thompson said after the meeting.

Several provincial governments, and organizations representing farmers have asked for emissions reductions from fertilizer to be measured via intensity – how much food is produced compared to the amount of fertilizer used. The Trudeau government is demanding an absolute reduction in emissions, which farmers say will result in less food being produced at a time when the world can ill afford it.

“The world is looking for Canada to increase production and be a solution to global food shortages. The Federal government needs to display that they understand this,” Alberta minister Nate Horner said

as every other globohomo plan in the past the newest concoction of returning to monke then ruling over the ashes wont work because the people who want to rule after the reset are scared for their lives when the people are hangry. Literally just keep them fat and strip away their rights slowly throughout the years American style lol.

The sad thing people on here aren't talking about is nitrates in the air/ground/water. This isn't to cut all nitrogen use, it's literally to cut down on excess use. This is an easy thing to look up. Also, I myself live in an area where nitrogen pollution ruined the ecosystem, and when it was addressed and excess nitrogen use was banned, shockingly the algal blooms that was killing the populations of fish went away. Anyways here are some reads for this, (1) (2).

My dislike for politicians is pure hatred. A group are people that have destroyed many lively hoods and now they're opening up the door to starvation for general public, and not one of these cunts will have to suffer the consequences of thier own policies.
These people should at least be seen and treated like parasites at best. At worst they are demons, Satan's little helpers tormenting man from above.

Nitrogen pollution in the environment can be a problem yes, but it doesn't require a broad solution that will effect the entire farming industry. Just identify the people who violate the law on the matter and punish them, simple as that. In the context of Trudeau's push against fertilizer, that is not what is happening here. The goal is to get a 30% reduction in emissions for the country and while fertilizer isn't officially targeted by this, there are groups that believe reducing nitrous oxide emissions are critical to reaching the emission rate goal.

I hope our Canadian farmers taked some tips advices from the Dutch farmers. It'll like to see some manure dropped at the head of some Canadian bureaucrats.
You thought sportsball on ice was stupid, there's Leafs that get so mad over their debased version of football they'll dump truckloads of manure on the the placekickers' lawn.
