So why does Stray matter though considering its not an exclusive so it won't sell systems?Stray already pulled off impressive sales and that was made by a smaller team as was Bridge of Spirits. If anything the PS5 has shown that there's already an audience for smaller niche games like those on the system.
They have a bunch of initiatives related to funding smaller titles. So why does Stray matter though considering its not an exclusive so it won't sell systems?
Once again why do those two NON EXCLUSIVE titles have anything to do with selling systems when people can buy them on PC? You do realize the smaller titles require less power so more PCs are able to play them which would mean that people wouldn't NEED TO BUY a PS5 to play them. They have a bunch of initiatives related to funding smaller titles.
between things like this and China Hero Project, Stray is just the latest success.
None of those sell, faggot. They have a bunch of initiatives related to funding smaller titles.

It's a very important point that remains often forgotten somehow. The sheer variety and amount of titles in the game library is what made the PS1 & PS2 really popular in their respective markets, not exclusively (would-be) big-name franchises even if those probably ended up moving a lot of hardware units. Variety means reaching different kinds of audiences, not focusing on a few ones. And you need a lot of videogames in order to catch and retain the attention of the public, instead of solely highly-curated titles that take many years to be developed but virtually nothing in-between. Something the californian branch of Sony (SIE) in charge is failing to grasp with the PS5 in addition of the other mentioned problems, not being available for the common man to state once again the most obvious issue. You are under the assumption that JRPGs always drive the console world and market, the PSX proved that wasn't the case and reality still confirms it. The PSX sold like hotcakes before FF7 was released because it had games. Toshinden, Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Tekken, Warhawk, Twisted Metal and lesser games(quality, not sales) like Loaded, Destruction Derby drew people to the platform and those were fucking release window games! People weren't sitting on their hands playing SNES until FF7 was released. Give up the JRPG supremacy fantasy, it died 25 years ago.

Switch crosses 2M across third party titles in the Top 50.
Knowing both the Switch and PS4/PS5's lineup until the end of the year, in best case scenario I don't think there is much chance for the PS ecosystem to have more than 10 titles in the Top 50 by the end of the year. As far as PS5 goes, only Elden Ring seems to be guaranteed it would stay in the chart until the end of the year.

A lot of people are delusional idiots though. The PSX had already been out for two years before FF7 arrived and it was already wildly successful. During those console generations two years was a huge amount of time.Don’t miss the part “name brand recognition”. Obviously, PS1 did not just sell because of FFVII alone. It’s just that as years and decades passed, that game in particular is the one that most think of as the success story as to why the PS1 is still heralded as one of the best gaming consoles that Sony ever created, until the PS2 came along.
That cover is from 18 months after FF7 released on Playstation. It was not announced as coming to PC at the initial reveal. I remember this very well and still have my copy. They're going all in on paying FF7 homage.

It's not the first time it happened it's just people don't remember.
Stray seems to be generating active player numbers that are on par with what Elden Ring did on playstation. And this is before they've released the physical edition.Once again why do those two NON EXCLUSIVE titles have anything to do with selling systems when people can buy them on PC? You do realize the smaller titles require less power so more PCs are able to play them which would mean that people wouldn't NEED TO BUY a PS5 to play them.
Do you happen to have the sales numbers of PC vs PS sales for both these titles? If PC sales are higher than PS sales is that really a success for PS or is it just they got a return on investment?
Ps3 only got good games during it's last few years and now you have retards waxing poetically that it was the last good Sony system. It's the same shit that people have done to the gamecube, it's all well after the system is done and off of store shelves."Playstation never gets off the ground until234 years in!" feels like the kind of shit some kid who started with a PS3 says because they're still coping with the PS3 never getting any good games.
"Seems" sounds like you have zero evidence and just going off the "Buzz" of the game. But your probably never going to have any evidence due to it being Sony, have they released those Forbidden West sales yet? I mean the PC side of things isn't close but its a Triple AAA vs a smaller studio so its expected.Stray seems to be generating active player numbers that are on par with what Elden Ring did on playstation. PC sales never seem to eat into a console's base. And with Bridge of Spirits the physical edition coming later usually had people double dip, Stray's physical edition comes in September. The problem with PS5 isn't moving hardware, it's with producing enough.

There's quite a few sites that track active played games on xbox and playstation, but they're like Steamspy where it's only a snapshot and not the entire population. On those Stray reached similar numbers that Elden Ring did for PS5 and PS4. So going by that I said "seems". For sales the game that's never going to be definite, because it was also released on the higher tiers of PlayStation+ so those people either bought the game or bought the service upgrade."Seems" sounds like you have zero evidence and just going off the "Buzz" of the game. The PS3 is the best console system period hands down, due to it slaughtering Sony's 3rd party stranglehold and giving gamers more choice when it comes to play on what they want.
well name the sites then. There's quite a few sites that track active played games on xbox and playstation, but they're like Steamspy where it's only a snapshot and not the entire population. Since Moira tends to be lacklustre sometimes with sources, you could just take a look at sites like this to see if he's in the ballpark or not.well name the sites then.
less than a month ago you were crying at me that those sites couldn't be used to prove astrobot didn't sell massively better than Gravity Rush 2 and now you're using them to try and measure much more volatile numbers that are much closerThere's quite a few sites that track active played games on xbox and playstation, but they're like Steamspy where it's only a snapshot and not the entire population. Also lets not forget last month they listed the games on why the PS5 is in a good place, which included Tales of Arise and Elden Ring. Was then countered by someone else with a list on how PS3 was in the same place. And Marissa only countered with how some games on the counter list weren't Playstation exclusives....while their list has two non exclusives.less than a month ago you were crying at me that those sites couldn't be used to prove astrobot didn't sell massively better than Gravity Rush 2 and now you're using them to try and measure much more volatile numbers that are much closer
That's true I did, but those were also both older titles that had more concrete numbers that existed for them, and Astrobot has traditionally been a hardware bundled title so it comes as a pack-in so by the very virtue of that, the series does sell more. But I was serious about Astrobot being the better made game out of the two. Gravity Rush 1 and 2 as a game suffers from many shortcomings that are linked to it's overall design and game mechanics, very base level stuff seems to have held the series back. It's popularity is similar to Overwatch where it's the secondary content like fan art and things like that which gets it attention but the source material of that art(i.e. the game) is less than desirable. Team Asobi made the better game in the end that's why they overtook Studio Japan and all their IPs.less than a month ago you were crying at me that those sites couldn't be used to prove astrobot didn't sell massively better than Gravity Rush 2 and now you're using them to try and measure much more volatile numbers that are much closer
Comparing Stray and Elden Ring is just stupid at this point. Elden Ring came out 5 months ago with no GAS bullshit, while Stray just came out. The only definite numbers we can get are from the Steam trackers since Steam tracks that stuff natively while so far all the PS trackers people have to opt in to contribute, which makes then highly unreliable. You honestly wanna use these PS trackers as a source considering they are saying only 1.19% of PS owners own Stray? Like that seems low for that type of game with all the hype no? You'd think it would be at 10% the way your puffing it up.That's true I did, but those were also both older titles that had more concrete numbers that existed for them, and Astrobot has traditionally been a hardware bundled title so it comes as a pack-in so by the very virtue of that, the series does sell more. Now Elden Ring clearly sold in the tens of millions in total, Stray certainly won't push that. But the game is being played by a larger number of people.
