Heroin addiction will change you as a person and put you through some shit, but it doesn't mean you're achieving personal growth. You're just a. doing heroin and b. staying alive. It's in a totally different category from "healthy hobbies and interests." And so is SRS!
While it may be painful and grueling and mentally/physically scarring, women getting "phallo" don't actually have to do anything. They can recite the script, obsess, go through the paces they've obsessed about, but there's zero personal growth or actual challenge bc it's all self-destruction. That's the real reason it doesn't compare to the other goals she's trying to have enthusiasm about: it's nothing like them. Healthy hobbies, personal development, whatever; those tend to be in the category of "mostly functioning human who doesn't want to mutilate themselves."

I kinda know this feeling she is describing. Something happening in the far-off future being the only thing you think about. For some people that’s a vacation, for this woman it’s not even something good. Phalloplasties and vaginoplasties are physical and psychological torture methods that make your life a living nightmare. And there is no escape. There is no going back.

She could take up the hobby of reading this entire thread, and seeing if she’s so sure she wants to go through with it after the read.

Radical acceptance of one's body is rarely mentioned, as are people who point out that additional surgeries will likely worsen the situation.

As long as cosmetic surgery is being constantly sold as a solution to all of life's problems, it is almost an inevitability that trans surgeons will eventually tap into the detransition market for breast reconstruction, rotdog removal, hell, even possibly phalloplasties on men.
