Is /vt/ supposed to be a reasonable proxy for the fanbase at large, or large enough in comparison to the fanbase at large that a "sizeable minority" there mean that the fanbase as a whole has a "sizeable minority"? How are non-/vt/ fans supposed to gatekeep /vt/, or anyone to gatekeep anonymous message boards in general? And even then it sounds like the bad actors' behavior didn't go over well with /vt/ types.Stop. In "almost" every fanbase the spergs and weirdos are a minority, this is not an argument. Fandoms are not created equal, some have more "bad apples" than others. Is the fact that, /uoh-global/ existed or that in every /ggg/ there are at least a dozen lolicon post followed by "uohhh" and c-word posts, not giant red flags? Why is it so disingenuous and retarded to assume that these same people would not jump at the chance to groom an irl loli? (*especially if evidence and archives point to them directly)
It is not in bad faith to blame a fandom for the actions of a sizeable and loud minority. It is their fault for not gatekeeping hard enough.
Settle down there Dr. Pizza. Y'all getting a little too emotional over the actions of /v/ posters. Go watch some Korone clips and chill.I don't think anyone outside of the other thread ever said it was literally the entire community. and the people that do it in the other thread pretty obviously do so in bad faith.
Ya'll are weirdly defensive about this shit in a way that I'll never understand. no one thought literally all 4 million+ of her subscribers went and harassed that 15 year old, it's supposed to be the "no shit" assumption that doesn't need to be explained as just a basic assumption. gura's fanbase containing weirdos is hardly a new topic or are we now going to play the no true scottsman game and say "well we don't know for sure a chumbud made the Gura fuck doll"
Keeki returning to lobster?
Gotta check back on them 2 weeks after debut to see if its not just related to the Honeymoon period. I think they would benefit from someone translating their shit to Japanese as Stars does seem to have a pretty big JP following.I'm pleased to see a dedicated Tempus clipper doing relatively well numbers wise
That's the crux of the issue. It is most certainly not safe to assume that given the chance 'they' would groom an actual teenager. I am a Gura fan, and I would never do that. I am membered to her and have bought her merch, and I post in her threads as well. So now what are you supposed to think? Equating the real life abuse or attempted abuse of children to uoh posting over Gura is pretty far gone and entirely removed from reality. Just saying it's the same thing doesn't make it true at all. If the fans are as bad as you say, and if the uoh posting does equal irl consequences within the larger Gura fanbase specifically, then you should have no trouble finding me documented examples where people have been directly hurt by those actions, and I don't mean just a handful of truly bad people like it was in this situation (which I already mentioned has actually turned into people trying to get her to stop associating with /vt/), but full on, a mass problem within the fanbase that you can point to having real consequences. Why is it so disingenuous and retarded to assume that these same people would not jump at the chance to groom an irl loli? Welp, at least she can cope by pretending the vacation was a business expense for tax purposes. Even though going from Austria to Italy is actually dirt cheap. So she went for some cosplay convention that was a scam?
I hear Kaela is collabing with Fauna and IRyS today, if anyone has the link it would be appreciated.

For anyone saying "why are you so defensive?" This is exactly why. When you paint with a broad brush you also sweep up people like me who are decidedly not in that camp, and I wholly resent the ideas about myself and other Gura fans that have been put forth more recently in this thread over the actions of 4 or 5 retards on /vt/ of all places. The post I am replying to right now is literally saying it is ok to assume such things, and the post that kicked this off today had no nuance other than 'chumbuds bad'. I hate to be the critical thinking police on this, but I'll do it from now on if I have to. If it was literally any other claim being made I wouldn't care, but it's just plain gross, so now here I am lol.
how is it gura fanbase fault for not gatekeeping /vt/? what?Stop. In "almost" every fanbase the spergs and weirdos are a minority, this is not an argument. For me the issue with the whole thing is the fact that Gura herself plays into it and in turn does encourage loli/pedo shit in her fanbase. I mean come on, some of the shit she likes on twitter is fucking disgusting.#ChumconsDidNothingWrong
I'm kind of realizing that the real reason that it's fruitless and doomed to go in circles is people are just talking passed eachother. it's fallen into a loop ofAlso, you all are still arguing about /vt/ spergs?
the poster is stupid but for what it's worth I think the intended implication is that the fanbase should gatekeep itself more broadly, not that they should be gatekeeping /vt/how is it gura fanbase fault for not gatekeeping /vt/? what?
At this point HL is big and experienced enough that the cost of managing an additional streamer beyond the initial onboarding costs is probably pretty negligible and just having the HL name attached to your channel will at least bring in a solid baseline of viewers (despite everyone pretending that's not true when Connor or whoever said that a few months ago) so I'm sure he'll do fine, though.
Edit:That's a very uncharitable reading of what people's problems were with his retarded comment. His assumption of 'Hololive = instant success' and is the easy street ignores all the work and time you have to put into making yourself a valuable candidate for them to consider hiring, and then all the work it takes to keep your audience interested. Right now, Cover could hire the most boring and untalented entertainer on the face of the Earth, and they would get over 100k subs before debut, but once they started streaming they would lose all that, and then if Cover continued hiring people who weren't talented then they would lose their audience over time along with the guarantee of some initial success. His statement was completely unnecessary because what he was saying is missing all sorts of other factors and doesn't actually happen, and at this point only serves as yet another glimpse into why he should keep his mouth shut when it concerns subjects he knows nearly nothing about.
Fuck, people already answered lol. But I'm not deleting my own autism just because others are also autistic! I'll just spoiler mine and say that I believe your reading of that situation is in somewhat bad faith.
the difference is that people join holo through an audition, well most of them, while trash taste is not,and him saying "you can be bad at streaming etc" is just wrong because according to cover people who got accepted are good at it and from time to time cover always did a good job at scouting, you can even see from the recent holostarsEN,as usual not just people doubting them yet cover showing again that they knew what they choose to debut.I'm sure this horse has been dead from beating a long time ago, and this particular clip has been discussed beyond any semblance of context, but the irony is that you can flip that around, "if you can get into Trash Taste, = instant success", and you completely disregard the grind that he and the boys had to do in their career to even get to this point.
I particular try to steer clear from heated debate on this so I'm unsure if anyone's ever called him out on that.
I'm sure he probably regretted saying this, eventually.
If I remember correctly, the clip was from a stream that he and Mousey did before he was buddies with Mori, so I'm certain he feels retarded for saying it at this point. He just has a habit, like lots of entertainers, of talking about things he has no knowledge of in an effort to make a point. I don't hold anything against him for it. He made a ridiculous comparison, and sometimes people try to defend the take when Canur himself built that example on sandy ground lol.I'm sure he probably regretted saying this, eventually.
