It's very, very rare for someone with insurance to be sued after an accident since it's the job of said insurance company to settle everything and make both parties happy. I can't think of a reason otherwise, they even cover the other party's deductible if it's determined they weren't at fault.
Did he walk over and piss on the guy's car? Or did he really not have insurance?
or is meigh his "insurance" because her credit score wasn't shit at the time

Here is just as likely a scenario:

Ralphamale gets the cheapest possible insurance. Ralph-a-male only has 25,000 worth of coverage for bodily injury. The victim of the gunt has 50,000 worth of medical bills and a lifetime damage resulting from this crash. so lets just round it to a cool 1/4 million dollars they are asking for. Well the insurance doesn't care if they claim a million in pain, since they are on the hook for 25,000. They see medical bills and pay happily what they legal have to and write that the retard was at fault. They either take him off their books or massively jack up his rates.

Now the victim has 2 choices.
  1. Take the tiny check that doesn't cover everything and go home
  2. sue the piggy
I believe option two is what happened.

  • $25,000 for bodily injuries per person
  • $50,000 for bodily injuries per accident
  • $20,000 for property damage
  • $25,000 for bodily injuries per person for uninsured/underinsured motorists
  • $50,000 for bodily injuries per accident for uninsured/underinsured motorists
  • $20,000 for property damage for uninsured/underinsured motorists

I believe this is regular civil court so it's over 5000 they are asking for and they have an attorney asking.

Injury lawyer. So it's not just about the property damage, I'd guess.

I also see he has a history in "nursing home abuse and neglect" so while it wasn't a nursing home, he is well versed in dealing with people who abuse and neglect the elderly. Ralph is toast.

Edit: and by abuse and neglect the elderly, Ralph, I am talking about all of the times you abused and neglected your mother that weren't livestreamed, because we all know there were plenty. Idk about VA but IIRC even if insurance covers everything (or if there’s nothing for insurance to cover, like a speeding ticket) you still have to go to traffic court to deal with the legal side of the problem. If it’s a misdemeanor and you don’t want to contest you can just plead guilty and pay the ticket by mail, but for felony moving violations (speeding more than 20mph over posted, etc) you have to show up in court

NAL but I think that you would sue the individual and then the insurance company would step in and provide legal support and pay for anything that is covered under the policy, however that almost never gets to court. The insurance company has every reason to make a deal before hand. Contractually they are on the hook for whatever the policy says regardless. The other guy probably spend the last 6 months trying to get the insurance info out of Ralph never responded so he just said screw it and sued.

Assuming he had insurance, the miminum for Virginia is 25K for one injured/dead, 50k for multiple inj/dead, 20k property.

I believe the traffic court part would be the $90 fine in the first Maryland case. This one is entirely civil.
