Episode 41 in Tony's series that queer = homophobic, a two-parter this time.
First off, monkeypox. (tiktok.com, archive.ph)
It's also not a "gay disease", as in fundamentally only infectious to gay people. But the big problem with Tony's approach, and it is a fucking big problem, is that the current outbreak is primarily among men who have sex with men, in other words, gay and bisexual men. (And yes Tony, we're talking about actual men, like you.)
The UK Health Security Agency does not mince its words: "Latest UKHSA data shows monkeypox transmission continuing primarily in interconnected sexual networks of gay, bisexual and men who have sex with men (GBMSM)." (gov.uk, archive.ph)
I can't speak about the situation in the US, but in the UK (where cases were initially reported), the outbreak has been marked by LBGTQ+ organisations' utter failure to communicate that gay men are particularly at risk. Neither the main Pride events this summer in London and Edinburgh gave any warning beforehand about monkeypox. LGBTQ+ organisations and activists denounced any attempt to warn gay men that they were at risk as "vile homophobia".
Here are a few things by Malcolm Clark (a gay man, involved with the LGB Alliance) on the utter failure of LGBTQ+ organisations to look out for the health of a group they claim to represent. (twitter.com, archive.ph; twitter.com, archive.ph; malcolmrichardclark.substack.com, archive.ph)
And specifically about their utterly shameful behaviour when called out on this (twitter.com, archive.ph).

Whew, easier one next. Log Cabin Republicans (tiktok.com, archive.ph)
y'all ehmaged ya gotta see it

Ugh well the counterargument is easier to make but dealing with Tony's insufferable voice is harder.
Anyway, short version: gay Republicans in Texas try to make the Republican party more hospitable for gay people, make little progress. Here's the article: texastribune.org (archive.ph).
Translation into plain English: "Har har har you fucking fags next time you'll stay in your fucking place when straight men want to force their fetishes on children."

Actually I mostly agree with this -- Tony is correct about the methods of transmission. The most recent big outbreak in the US, in 2003, was primarily a case of transmission from animals to humans. (cdc.gov, archive.ph)Tony said:We need to stop calling monkeypox a gay disease … you can catch it from skin contact, clothing, or even animals. It's very possible for children to get it from infected adults or other children this way.

Tony said:No way, Republicans don't care about LGBTQ people. … Look, I have trouble being sympathetic with Log Cabin Republicans in Texas.
Earlier this year whenever [] I reported that Governor Greg Abbott was trying to take away trans teens from their parents, the Log Cabin Republicans defended it.
And let this be a lesson that throwing trans people under the bus if you are gay will not save you.
