Found this random Mr. Beat comment on a random vaguely consoomer YT channel (link). Anything not in a bughive or is a "zoo" is wrong and should be discouraged. Maybe I'm thinking too deeply about this, but these kind of people are what caused Sea World and other zoos to get closed down/reduced. Pretty soon, zoos will be closed down by these fucks. Less animals, less humans, less carbon death worshipers.

My conclusion: being an (ex) high school teacher does not give you authority or knowledge to be breadtube-lite.
Yeah heaven forbid people taking pride in their local institutions. Why they might take pride in their community their town and their country and we all know were that leads- genocidal fascism.

Just a reminder these types got a gazebo that allegedly was used to sell slaves torn down in some town in the South. I say allegedly because there was never any documented evidence it was used to sell slaves.

This wasn't some small city or anything either, it was your average American Town of a few thousand people.

He speaks about "local culture" and only examples he have are cities. Places where hundreds of thousands or even millions of people live. With how many of them can one person interact regulary? 50-100 max. So of course distinct culture will develop much more slowly and will not be as strong as some places where everyone knows everybody . Another problem is even If it maybe not seen as big deal in former colonial nations. Most big cities today had massive population increase in past 2 centuries. It turns out that keeping that many people in one place is kinda difficult . Anyway point I am trying to make is if you have such large influx of outsiders so quickly then locals and their culture can't keep up and they were overwhelmed.

Urban bugmen cannot conceive of life outside of their bug hives.

A little late, but a new Fall of Civilizations episode is out about the Nabataeans (Petra has been a childhood favorite archeology site for me -- also one of the best wonders to build in Civ 6):

One of my favorite history tube channels on the platform. Honestly all the long-form ones are pretty great and are pretty useful for long drives or background noise for hobbies.

What does this have to do with the Cold War?

So at one point The Cold War channel was getting fucked with by a combination of Tankies and self appointed Reddit historians who wanted to 'check their sources'.

If YouTube gets a load of emails complaing about 'misinformation' or 'hate' speech from people with .edu or .gov emails. They pay more attention, than if it's just from some rando.

The Channel responded really by not arguing, and instead (IMO at least) by making some minor changes mostly reflected in the titles of videos... so for example there's a video on the 'Kuomintang Dictatorship' in Taiwan, however China is run by the CCP. Likewise South Korea's 'Brutal' dictatorship, which at a glance makes it seem morally equivalent to the DPRK.

The actual content of the videos, are much more neutral and matter of fact though, and are usually pretty informative, and a good watch.

I think they just had to make a token effort, so that the Tankies would have a quick look and then fuck off. Most of them are too busy arguing with TIK anyway.

Wendigoon does a variety of things but he recently made a video about WW2. He's done a few other videos about past events but this is one that falls into the standard pop-history sphere of "WW2, the Civil War, and Ancient Rome." Can any WW2 autists give their thoughts?
As a World War 2 history enthusiast, the events of the Battle of Castle Itter have had plenty of videos done on them by pop-history channels as a "wow so whacky the Americans and Germans fought together" moment. I haven't watched the video yet but I will assume it doesn't say anything other videos made before it already said.

This will give you an idea how saturated this topic is:

There's been a few videos and podcasts episodes made about the Battle of Castle Iter... They're all based on the same book The Last Battle by Stephen Harding. The Wikipedia article is the same. Harding is a good writer and a respected journalist.

However I have this theory.... that since around about 2015, with the vast majority of participants in WWII events dead, particularly those that were in any sort of senior role., authors have a lot of scope to fill in narrative gaps. I don't think that book would have gotten away with being published in say the 1980''s. At the same time writers like Max Hastings were publishing books such as "Das Reich" which were describing events of only a few decades previously, and where reviewers were often former soldiers who had some idea about how militaries worked in WWII.

That said 'The Last Battle' is a published work, it's cited on the wikipedia article, if you twee about it and someone goes 'souce plz' you'll be able to tell them.

Not a bad video but covers nothing new, if you wanted a new take on itter or anything this isnt it, its just wendigoon talking about the same story as Qxir, Mark felton, Yarnhub, etc.

I didn't know Abercrombie & Fitch was redneck. Seriously though, as someone from the Deep South, this shit ain't close to redneck. All I see are a bunch of your average college faggots. Cynical tries so hard to come off as the average Joe, working-class man type of guy and yet is pretty much oblivious to the fact he's a upper-class brat who's the son of a historian that shows up on Pawn Stars.

Lmao San Luis Obispo is a college town filled with hippies and art hoes. I don't know how someone can look at an image of a bunch of bugmen with famous small family business Abercrombie & Fitch in the background and not facepalm at some dude claiming those are rednecks.
The only thing that makes SLO vaguely red neck is that it is just north of the origin of California barbeque, but Cali Barbeque is dead and the bugmen killed it so I award no points.
